Chevy Volt MPV? (GM Design Patent)
Chevy Volt MPV? (GM Design Patent)
What? A Volt Crossover?? www.gminsidenews.com April 14, 2010 Patent D613,645 S ![]() UPDATE: GMI sources have stated that General Motors will be revealing a concept at the upcoming Beijing auto show that will be a Voltec-powered crossover. We assume this is the design of that crossover. Sources stated that the concept is going to be loosely based on the impending Chevrolet Orlando; however it appears that the vehicle is smaller than the Orlando (likely in effort to work with the Voltec powertrain). The design patent, filed in August 2009 and issued just yesterday, has GM designer Bob Boniface as one of the designers. Boniface is the lead designer for GM's Voltec vehicles. It appears to be the same vehicle leaked by GM in a YouTube video last year... ![]() From: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/12/p...o-vid-w-video/ It looks like a Chevy Orlando... ![]() ...but with "Voltec" styling. Update: Member "camaro_freak" did some photoshop magic to apply Volt styling to the Orlando... ![]() Keep in mind that while the shape and proportions are very similar to the patent drawing, this vehicle will likely be smaller than the Orlando - probably Gamma rather than Delta.

They will be debuting a concept at the Beijing auto show that is basically a Voltec Orlando. That is supposedly what the design patent is.

Will this literally be a Voltec-powered Orlando? It seems smaller than the Orlando concept. Maybe it's just the line drawing.

Re: Chevy Volt MPV? (GM Design Patent)
I suspect it is physically smaller than the Orlando. If it was to be produced it would likely where a different nameplate and only have two-rows.

I really like the Orlando, and think that this MPV will be just as good. Can't wait for an official debut. Maybe somebody will slip up, and tite me over with some leaked pics.

Maybe they can use the Optra name from the Canadian market wagon. The Chevrolet Optra It might work, although I think there is an Optra Battery sold somewhere and that may cause "naming issues". |

Chevy took the Orlando off its "future" vehicles page.

Re: Chevy Volt MPV? (GM Design Patent)
I noticed that...the three vehicles up there right now are all scheduled for launch this year, so I'm guessing once they're available, the Orlando will be back.
