Exclamation Chevy MPV spotted testing, again.

With murmurs this vehicle could be built alongside the Volt, are we looking at the first major hybrid-electric minivan?

I think Toyota already produces a couple hybrid minivans.

I know there's a Toyota Alphard Hybrid. I saw one in Hong Kong a couple weeks ago.

I assume they are suggesting it might use the Volt drivetrain. That would be different from what Toyota does.

Re: Chevy MPV spotted testing, again.

Hmmm...I hope thats not the official name, as it is way to close to the Toyota Tacoma.

Ah so this is a smaller MPV in the vein of the 5. Chevy should not get this. It should be Saturn's and it should be the Zafira. Maybe make a medium to large minivan for Chevy. And the Outlook and Traverse need to be killed.

2. Tacuma is the name used now in some markets by the obscure Daewoo, and later Chevrolet, compact MPV:

The car is actually pretty awful, is a hundred years old and made of clay'n'sticks, but as this vehicle would be somewhat of a replacement, they are referring to it by that name.

3. GM has actually announced that both Chevrolet and Opel/Saturn/Vauxhall would be getting compact Delta-based MPVs. I am not quite getting this strategy when GM still doesn't have a competent LCV, but what gives...

agreed- the traverse shoulda been a true caravan style minivan. and it would be pretty sweet if this was launched alongside the volt with a volt type powertrain. would help with spreading the cost of the volt, no.

Re: Chevy MPV spotted testing, again.

perhaps this would be called HHR and we may see a Cruze 5 and maybe 3 door to fill in for the current HHR?

That would make sense. Minivans are usually just daily haulers.

Unless they are taken to road trips.

Re: Chevy MPV spotted testing, again.

When are people going to stop referring to the Volt as a hybrid-electric? It's an electric vehicle with a range extender. A hybrid-electric uses the engine and the electric motors for propulsion.

You know, I did read an article recently (was it on here?) that stated the next-gen HHR will have a much more modern appearance. Could this be the current HHR's replacement?

Re: Chevy MPV spotted testing, again.

Could these also be the refresh of the Savanna/Express Vans? When was the last time those were refreshed, 1999? I know they upgraded the engine a few years ago but come on. There is a need for these vehicles from businesses!

Re: Chevy MPV spotted testing, again.

I've been hoping for an E-Flex Zafira version to be available here in the states. I think we knew were were getting a version of the next Zafira when the UAW leaked the contract details. If it is built along side the Volt, on the same platform, and the previous generation Zafira was used for a test platform for Fuel Cell powertrains means this also would be a good canidate for E-Flex. At least that is what I've been hoping all along. My wife likes to have a 7+ passenger vehicle and more fuel efficient would be nice. Many days she travels less than the potential range of an E-Flex mini-minivan.

I think so. I'm hoping for a Cruze 5 dr and having that, plus Tacuma plus an HHR is too many.

And for the other posts about e-Flex. Get real, GM can't even get their act together to make the Beat available here or to make a 2-mode Lambda so there is no way this will be e-Flex. You're just making too much sense. Back away from the keyboard.
