Chevy Matiz replacement testing

Didn't see this anywhere, sorry if it's a repost.

It may not be a glamourous spypic of the eventual Matiz replacement (the Beat) but at least we know GM is testing it.

This is a mule right ? I hope so. Anyway, as a second car, it would be perfect for many drivers. Is it coming to North America or will it stay in Europe ?

That guy looks so cool in that car with his arm on the window sill like that.

It's coming to NA as the Chevy Beat... or from what it looks like is that it will be a heavily dummed down version of that concept.

No way no how. This picture was from a week or two ago and we believed it was a mule.

Re: Chevy Matiz replacement testing

This is a mule. For the Laymen, that means it is the OLD Matiz being used to test parts for the next model- the Beat. In this case, it looks like they are testing the powertrain.

Yes, these pics are from a couple of weeks ago.

No, the Beat has not been approved for sale in the US...yet...

With Ford making it's announcement on the Fiesta, I have to think it will only be a matter of time. The Beat can ("Beater" jokes welcome) can then be GM's bottom dollar economy car. And the good Corsa should replace the Aveo in GMNA if GMDAT isn't given the funding to update the dated Lanos powertrain in the Aveo so it doesn't continue to have uncompetitive City fuel economy --- and should be a Chevy if Saturn can't sell the Astra with its limited ad budget and limited dealerships.

Re: Chevy Matiz replacement testing

Hopefully its better quality then whatever Chrysler brings us from China. I know Ford has made no mention of marketing a NA version of the Ka, but the Beat/Matiz better be really good looking in order to counter the Aveo and its "interesting" (aveo5) and if not bland (aveo sedan) looks. I think once the Fiesta is RE-established into the NA marketplace, and the Focus is redesigned in euro suit, Ford will have a dominence in the domestic small car market.

Hey Ming, I took my Mother in-law to look at some Kia's. She wanted something around $15,000 with auto and air. She liked the Rio but the seat had no height adjustment and lacked trunk room. We stopped at the Chevy store to look at the Aveo. The rear deck line was too high for her to see out and the price was about the same as a Rio. The salesman showed us a Special Edition Cobalt LT that had XM, locks, and windows. The Cobalt had a nice seat crank to lift up the seat. This car was a heavy metal flake gold, just what old ladies love. The car with the rebates came out around $16,500 out the door. The hood even has a shock to hold it open. My kids think it's coolest car in the world. I know people want fuel economy, but the Cobalt blows the Aveo out of the water. I'll pay a little more at the pump to have some dignity in my commute. I think these micro cars are just a fad. Wasn't there a car called the Metro?? Hmmm, can't remember.

I've never been in a car that my arm comfortably sat on the arm rest, everything I've ever driven, your arm naturally sits at the window sill.

On a side note, without A/C (I presume) you gotta keep cool somehow.

Agreed, I do it all the time..has nothing to do with being "cool", has to do with comfort, and some people enjoy having the window open too. So many drive around on nice days (not hot, not cold) with windows up, not sure what they are hiding from.

I was kidding, guys. I do it all the time in my truck when the weather is nice.
