Re: Chevy to get small, Gamma-based crossover

I love the idea, assuming they keep it smaller than the HHR. I always loved the Tracker, and could see people liking a vehicle like this. Same footprint as a subcompact but with more interior space (including headroom).

I get the impression that the Beat will be even smaller and not as tall, which leaves some room for this thing!

True, I'd forgotten that (though I wasn't sure if there would be some bleedover with the HHR being sold as the new Zafira based Chevy is available), and the Zafira would be less likely to pass as a "crossover" -- more of a true "mini" minivan.

For most of these cars, the "more interior space" thing is unfortunately limited to headroom.

There is no Daewoo anymore. All further projects are collaborative efforts between the three major divisions. GMDAT has Gamma and the sedan Delta IIs, GM europe has the hatch delta IIs and Epsilon IIs, and GMNA has trucks.

Re: Chevy to get small, Gamma-based crossover

I like the new small cars they are producing and being global is good, but if it is a crossover it should be designed in the US that is what we do trucks and truck-like thingys.
The size idea is a good one I mean the nox is the same size as an explorer and they have the escape below it. I like the concept of the Hyundai Tuscon/KIA Sportage so if GM could give people something about that size it would do well from high sitting not big size wanting people.

If they're taller you get a bit more luggage space, if it's done right. Plus, with upright rear seating and tall front seats they can sometimes eek out a bit more foot space for rear passengers. The old Suzuki Sidekick / Chevrolet Tracker had adequate room for 4 adults, for example... much more comfortable than any similar-length car (especially when it came equipped with the uplevel bucket seats in back).

But wait, aren't trucks going away too? Only bean counters left in GM NA (actually only USA. Mexico and Canada still have engineers), oh yes, the profits stay in USA but the middle class is gone. We (us engineers) should move to Korea, China, Germany

Ah another product that I won't have a fat chance to build.

9 More working days until I am laid off.

And we are still left in the dark with no contract..............

I sure hope that the HHR isn't going anywhere. I believe it looks better with each passing year.

Chevy needs to hit a home run with this car. I think that they could go toe to toe with the Honda Element and the Scion Xb

Re: Chevy to get small, Gamma-based crossover

The HHR is pretty cool, but they need a Tracker type vehicle, messaged for 2010, to appeal more towards female daily commuters.
