Re: Chevrolet Orlando Concept Revealed ahead of Paris Show

Looks pretty cool. Very ipod ish. Makes me wonder what exactly Chevy's design direction is. You've Got the futuristic Volt, elegant Malibu, unusual cruze, bland Aveo, bland impala...

GM's biggest problem by far is their image. You can not create a new image unless everything works together. The design direction, the marketing, and just the overall presentation. You look at Chevrolet's overall line up and it's a mess. Toyota's line up may be boring, but at least it's consistent without any slop.

Yes some people NEED the 3rd row.

We have 3 kids and we consume the entire first 5 seats in the car with just our family. Sometimes we really need (or want) to take one of our kids friends with us or perhaps their cousins or Grandma. I'd love a smaller more fuel efficient way to do this.

People keep calling this a CUV but to me it looks like a minivan without the sliding doors and flender flares. It has a lower flat loading floor and minimal ground clearance like a minivan would have (although that is hard to tell from the pictures). If it is a version of the Zafira then I'd love to have one, those vehicles are great.

I kind of like it, now if it had a small diesel in it.....but I will take an ecotec in it. If it is around the same size as the Cruze then I think it will be a great size.

You have a point about the extra cost.

This CUV is developed w/Europe in mind. Just as we pack family and friends into a minvan, the same happens in a Zafira size MPV - just a little more cramped.

Your question is still a valid one for the US.......

I would call it a modern-day interpripation (sp?) of a station wagon...

Or, a hip, chic, van for the Ikea-furnishing, Starbucks-drinking, family of 4 (plus a Terrier).

Re: Chevrolet Orlando Concept Revealed ahead of Paris Show

I like this exterior design and I especially like the interior design. The only thing I don't like are the Camaro like instruments. It looks like they found a few boxes of gauges from the 80's in an old warehouse and decided to use them. They just don't work in the overall look of the interior.

I like seeing the seat heater buttons along with a cloth interior. GM has been slow in adding heated seats to non leather interiors and these are big selling points in cold climates (one of the reasons that my girlfriend purchased a new Golf as opposed to any other compact car.)

I own a 2006 HHR and I really like the retro styling but I would consider this as a replacement. One thing I really like about the HHR is the storage space in the rear. It can really swallow a lot of stuff. It has a nice hidden storage area under the rear floor and two more smaller storage bins in the rear floor behind the rear seats. If you remove the spare it has a really nice, deep, extra storage space.

The major problem with adding two extra jump seats in the rear is that they need a place to fold into which means that storage space is cut down significantly. I would personally prefer the extra storage space over the extra two seats but than again I'm a young 20-something who does not have a family and my primary use for a vehicle like this is for trips to the mountains for snowboarding or camping or other adventures.

Yep, this is our Delta 7 passanger MPV.
Mazda 5 and Kia Rondo fighter to CRV, this will be an AWESOME little car! I think it looks killer! Very bold front end, this would be a great MPV for a small family.
Edit: OHH that interior!! Production ready, make sure this comes out asap in the US!! This is an awesome family hauler. Give it a BAS+ system or the Family Zero 1.4T motor and 40mpg should be a walk in the park.

2 people plus a (Jack Russell) terrier. Terriers demand their own row of seats.

Orlando sounds like your girlfriend's hairdresser.

From the interior shot, it looks like it is going to have a semi-auto gearbox.

Re: Chevrolet Orlando Concept Revealed ahead of Paris Show

This would be a vehicle that GM sorely needs.

I questioned GM's move of making the Equinox bigger, since it left a huge hole between it and GM's really only people/cargo mover, the HHR (as cute as the HHR is, it is no match for the Mazda 5).

This vehicle is exactly what is needed in NA. For everyday driving around town, taking kids to school, soccer games, and expensive fuel (gas will never be as cheap as it once was), people do not need Traverses - as nice as they are.

As a previous mini-van owner, I rarely used the third row, but that space behind the back seat was damn convenient for large items and extended vacations. Packing all of our belongings into the trunk of my Aura for a one week vacation was quite the challenge. Surely any usage of the third row for this new HHR would eliminate any rear storage, just as with the Mazda 5, but the option is there if you want to take your kids and their friends shopping.

I did a quick Photoshop of the lower grille to give it more of the Chevrolet car styling

Ha! I just noticed that the interior pic shows small front triangular windows while the exterior shot doesn't have them! Looks like these might be some very early design sketches... adn those kind of look like Volt side mirrors in the interior shot, don't they?

I hope so, I like it. I like everything about the HHR except how rounded the nose is. I like this one, except for the name...no offense "OrlandoGuy" Kinda funny how you're the first to comment on this one.
