Chevrolet Orlando Concept Revealed ahead of Paris Show
Paris Preview: Chevrolet Orlando Concept Remember the Chevrolet MPV we've been hearing about.... www.gminsidenews.com September 9, 2008 ![]() Detroit - The Orlando show car, making its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October, is a clear indication that Chevrolet is considering an expansion to its portfolio with a seven-seat multi-purpose vehicle with distinctive sport utility-like design, adaptable seating and impressive interior space. Based on the recently announced all-new Cruze compact sedan, the Orlando show car carries Chevrolet’s signature design language into a new vehicle segment. It explores the potential of combining the versatility attributes of a sport utility, a family van and a wagon in a single execution. Chevrolet Orlando cuts a distinctive silhouette, replacing conventional monocab proportions with a more defined contrast between the hood and windshield lines. With flared fenders instead of a flat side-body, Orlando has a muscular stance that gives it the appearance of a sport utility vehicle, yet it offers dynamic ride and handling, excellent fuel efficiency and easy entry thanks to its car-based architecture. Inside, the five-door Orlando is designed to meet the needs of families and those who need plenty of seating capacity with adaptable, theater-style seating in three rows that comfortably accommodate up to seven occupants. Whenever load carrying becomes a priority, the spacious cabin can be quickly transformed into a large cargo area. A generous 2760 mm wheelbase and wide front and rear tracks provide Orlando with outstanding interior roominess. Chevrolet’s latest-generation 2.0-liter turbo diesel, developing 150 hp and 320 Nm of torque, provides a powerful and fuel efficient powertrain. Following the recent announcement of the all-new Cruze sedan, the Orlando show car promises another page in Chevrolet’s product portfolio and another step in Chevrolet’s plan to offer customers around the globe impressive value, quality and fuel efficiency. ![]()

Exactly. I'm so tired of these things that aren't really good at anything. They are overblown minivans that don't even do their job as efficiently.

.
This has to be the new Chevy HHR. I base that statement on the following: From Automotive News: The redesigned 2011 HHR wagon will abandon the retro styling theme and become what one insider called "radically modern." It also will be bigger, with possible seating for seven. Essentially, it will be a mini-minivan, based on the replacement for the Opel Zafira. The vehicles will be developed on GM's next-generation Delta vehicle architecture. A concept may be revealed this year. Looks like a totally production-ready, new version of the Equinox, inside and out.

Re: Chevrolet Orlando Concept Revealed ahead of Paris Show
WOW, This is the GAMMA Chevy mentioned in another thread on this site. If the interior isn't watered down from the concept too much, I think this pocket rocket CUV would do well in the US. The 2.0L TDI would be a bonus.....
Ken * EDIT* I did not read this close enough. It is based on the DELTA (Cruze), Not GAMMA. Camo'ed pics have been discussed in other threads. That can only mean this is the cousin to the Next Gen Zafira. I hope this has the Flex 7 passenger seating found in the current Zafira. My Apologies, Perian. I should read the article thoroughly next time.- Ken Last edited by kmacleod : 09-09-2008 at 10:47 AM. Reason: read the entire article and edited my statements. |

Re: Chevrolet Orlando Concept Revealed ahead of Paris Show
Wouldn't this be the new HHR which is going away from retro? I think the picture makes it look large, but if it's a compact then it'll be HHR sized or smaller which is something GM needs. Plus, the HHR is very fuel efficient and handy. I know a couple of folks who love theirs because it's practical and fuel efficient, allowing them to lug around a lot of stuff when needed. And as fp115 indicates, it shares more than a passing resemblance to one of the triplets.
And that interior looks production ready, very similar to what we've seen for the Cruze. I'm glad GM is keeping themes alive for each of their brands' interiors. |

I rather have an "American unwieldy vehicle" than Korean junk as Aveo which is even worse than other Korean products as new Hyundais and Kias

Re: Chevrolet Orlando Concept Revealed ahead of Paris Show
Well I think there we have it........the new HHR. I hope they keep "HHR" (no one except us on this board knows what it stands for anyway). Ditch "Orlando" or "Groove". This thing looks tame, not "groovey". "Orlando" makes me think only of Disney World, as in if you buy this car, you're probably a family man who throws the whole family in the car and vacations to Disney World every year! HOW BORING. Not the image I'd want to project.
And $20 says those headlights and LEDs on the bottom front fascia don't make it to production

This is clearly a hint of the next HHR and I'm very excited. I think that this will bring a lot more people into the Chevy showrooms that wouldn't have even considered the current HHR because of it's retro styling. |
