I am suggesting Spectrum.
Dopey customers will confuse it with the excellent Spectra, and mistakenly buy a Chivvlay product.

Hey, whatever works!!

+1, just what I was thinking, except I'd keep the same name for the sedan as well.

That's kind of funny.
Besides that, I would've thought it more likely he was referring to "Volt Battery Materials"...

Maybe Mulahy(?) can come to GM. The leadership is paid millions and is guessing wrong. Patience is wearing thin.

Re: Chevrolet to drop «Cobalt» name

I really have to scratch my head at some of GM's recent dumbasss moves including the never ending name changes to confuse the hell out of the customers. Meanwhile everybody knos what a Camry, Corolla, Accord and Civic is. Yup most of those names have been with us for 20-30 years.

Yes, let's bring back the Nova name for the Cobalt replacement. While we're at it, bring back the Vega name for the next Aveo.

Re: Chevrolet to drop «Cobalt» name

If the Volt and the new Cobalt replacement are to be on the same platform, call it the Chevy Watt. As in W(att)TF???

Maybe they'll call it the Chevy Storm? GM would be wise beyond years to call the next Aveo the Metro, due to name recognition. And I personally can't stand the name Cobalt. Every time I hear the name it makes me think of Lowe's. So I honestly don't know if they should keep it or toss it. Nobody knows what it is so there's not much recognition for it anyways. At least people heard of a Malibu before.

Maybe they'll call it the Caprice! Hahaha...

"SouthPark" (Probably my favorite TV show) and "Team America World Police" are both created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Kim Jong Il (in what is essentially Cartman's voice) says it over and over and over. So I guess we are both right. I actually forgot Cartman says that...

Re: Chevrolet to drop «Cobalt» name

Oh, and I've always loved the Cobalt Name. There are only two acceptable reasons why GM should change the cobalt name:

1) They are going to create a permanent global name from this point on.
2) They are going to have 3 econo-models by slotting the cobalt in between the Aveo and the (_______TBD________)

Re: Chevrolet to drop «Cobalt» name

PRIZM!
One of the problems with the Cobalt is that GM didn't do enough to differentiate it from the Cavalier, a car that nobody likes. They look pretty similar to most people. I think that tarnished it's name a bit.

I do think Prizm would be the best name for the car (and would've been from the beginning). Most people either have fond memories of it, or know that it was essentially a Corolla (a car that despite a sales slump, still has a reputation for quality, reliability, and good gas mileage).

Re: Chevrolet to drop «Cobalt» name

I hated the Cobalt name at first but it became ok. Just couldn't understand a non-luxurious mineral serving as a name for a car. I was worried that coal or germainium would be next.

How about the Chevy Capesh! (or is it Kapesh)?

If they keep this up they will soon join Ford in having the most discontinued name-plates in the industry. STUPID IDEA
