Re: Chevrolet to drop «Cobalt» name

Late last year, I still had faith in GM.

Roll on six months, and I have none. They seem to be utterly directionless and, more to the point, clueless to boot.

You are close, but I heard they are going to call it the Chevy Cimarron.

2010 'New Cobalt' runs along side 2010 'Cobalt Classic' I bet....

Only if they want it to be ridiculed even more than the GTO was.

In honour of Top Gear USA (aka 'Gear'), lets call it the Chevrolet Carolla!

Ford was stupid to drop the Escort name, imho.

Re: Chevrolet to drop «Cobalt» name

They probably did this so they can use the same name here as they do in Europe. They were so pleased with themselves when they saved "millions" by keeping the Astra name for the US.

Agreed. PLEASE, can we stop with bringing back all the Retro names and come up with something new?

Re: Chevrolet to drop «Cobalt» name

I kinda liked Cobalt, and while I think its unnecessary for GM to change car names so much (just refine the product), I could go for Nova as Chevy's small car. This is a long as everywhere in the world the car is sold, it is still called Nova, and it's the last time GM will ever change it.

They never should have changed the name in the first place.
As a whole new car the Cobalt was nothing special, as a Cavalier it was a revelation.

All that is missing is a cloud of weed smoke in the cabin and a Domino's Pizza delivery sign on top. Awful.

If it is Lacetti, it will at least be a name that has earned some recognition overseas.

Current-gen Lacettis in the background:
