Cars.com Vue Red Line First Drive

Me again. I know you guys want to read it or I wouldn't bother linking here but I just returned our Red Line tester this morning. First thoughts:
http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2...drive-200.html

Quote:
A few months ago, I was introduced to the all-new 2008 Saturn Vue and was relatively impressed with the package on my XR tester. It had a nice V-6 engine, a high-quality interior and a utilitarian cargo area. When the Vue Red Line arrived in our fleet I was expecting a car similar to the XR, only better — or at least faster. The only thing better about the Red Line, though, were the seats.
If you guys have more detailed questions about the car I didn't address in the blog. Fire away, and please realize we're not GM bashing here. I gave a very positive review to the regular Vue and still stand behind that. I also tested all of the previous generation Vue, Red Line and Green Line.

Didn't know there was a Redline version already. Dissapointing if this is the real deal.

Re: Cars.com Vue Red Line First Drive

Saturn of Bloomington, MN had one lined up with the others behind the dealership. Kind of surprised of the large amount of Vues in the lot, many be 12 or so, for this early in the production. Didn't have a camera but it looked very similar to a regular Vue.

but Saturn didn’t add any extra horsepower to the Red Line.
OK, that right there is a deal breaker for me. That's straight out of the bad old GM handbook. Throw on some fluff, but no substance and call it the sport version. Very disappointing.

Kind of odd that they praised the seats and didn't include a photo of them. I also think it's lame to not have increased performance on a Red Line model.

Re: Cars.com Vue Red Line First Drive

Seems like a fair revue to me. If they call it a Red-Line/GXP/SS/Super/V there should be more HP or Torque with better suspensions, etc. Period.

Sounds to me like a return to the late '70s: a bunch of tape stripes, body mouldings, and "sport" handling with no extra HP....

Re: Cars.com Vue Red Line First Drive

GM doesn't have anything else to put in.

The 257HP 3.6L is the most powerful engine in the parts bin that fits the car.

GM isn't going to engineer a v8 into the thing... and certainly not going to turbo the 3.6L.

Re: Cars.com Vue Red Line First Drive

They should have used the 3.6 from the Lambdas. 275 HP in a Vue would be pretty quick.

Re: Cars.com Vue Red Line First Drive

one of the biggest mistakes on this suv and a top reason why I won't consider it.... no sunroof option. wtf? If I can get a sunroof in a pickup truck why not a "sporty" mini-suv?

Hell lie to us-- tell HP has increased by 1.

No one would dispute that.
