Re: Camaro Wheel Selection!

Holy throwback Batman! Those steel wheels sure remind me of the late 80's Rally wheels found on the likes of the '87 Monte Carlo SS and S-10's of the era (and of course base Camaro's). I never cared for them back then, but I kinda like these. I must be getting old and nostalgic or something! (My Dad still has his 88 S-10 with those babies on). The IROC wheels are sweet too, very similar to what my brother had on his 88 IROC-Z. Things seem to have sort of come full circle since the 80's on the wheels... Although, I'll still take the 20's thank-you very much!

Love the steelies. And keep mine 18", don't need slow and heavy 20" wheels on a pony car. Blech.

So you're saying 20" alloy wheels are heavier than steel 18" wheels????

I mounted Holden's 17" inch 05 GTO wheels on my 02 Firebird Formula with little hassle. The bolt pattern is nearly identical but I had to remove the slightest amount of aluminum at the central hub to properly seat against the rotor hub. 2 years later, I've had zero issues. The 17" GTO wheels actually look better on the Firebird then the GTO as well as the original Firebird 16" chromies. The 17's then double as my 06 GTO winter tires (replacing the summer only factory 18's) while the Formula sleeps for the winter.

Re: Camaro Wheel Selection!

either way - if Al wanted to put any of the wheels on his 72, he'd need wheel spacers regardless, so even if the bolt pattern differs, it could be adapted. i personally am not a fan of spacers/adapters, but it CAN be done.

Yeah, likely need a 2.25" spacer (like putting on late modle f-body wheels onto earlier f-bodys).
But, IROC ftmfw for me (and a set of IROCs for my Jimmy too please!)

My Buddy had IROC wheels on his late '80s Blazer, it looked great. I Had Monte Carlo SS wheels on my S-10.

Re: Camaro Wheel Selection!

I like the steelie base wheels, though I would probably get an SS, see, some people were complaining that there was nothing surprising about the Camaro, and then this information comes out.

Ive got a set of 15" Z28 wheels on my Jimmy now and a set of 16" IROCs at a buddy's (sans tires, lol)....only Q: do i fork out the cash for rubber for the OEM IROCs or go balls-out for a set of 18" chrome aftermarket IROCs? Decisions, decisions....
