BREAKING: Chevrolet Volt rated at 230 MPG!!
Fritz confirms Volt will be rated at 230 MPG city!!! www.gminsidenews.com August 11, 2009 By: Nick Saporito  In a major announcement by General Motors CEO Fritz Henderson, it has now been confirmed that the 2011 Chevrolet Volt will be rated at 230 MPG city. GM claims this will be the first mass-produced vehicle to achieve triple-digit fuel economy numbers. Fritz also states that GM is confident the new Volt will get a "triple digit" number for highway fuel economy as well. To charge the Volt to a full charge will cost about 40 cents! In the conference, Fritz also CONFIRMED that Cadillac is working quickly on an entry-level rear-wheel drive sedan and coupe! We fully expect that he was referring to the "ATS," which is slated for the Alpha platform and will be GM's direct competitor to the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes C-Class. Quote:

This is huge news. If they can get the product to market in the near future and get advertising right, this could change the perceptions and market share losses for GM for the next 50 years!

I do hope they get it out soon though! Good that they are building them already as pre-production though so hopefully they will be able to ramp up production quickly when it's ready to go!

I hope the Volt is GM's highest priority and one of the vehicles they spoke of getting to market ahead of schedule. Probably the best time to get it to market would be next May, about 9 months from now, right before gas goes up for the summer; and don't be surprised if we don't see $4+ gas then, as well.
