Im still not sure if I like this concept car...However I know I will when it gets the Corvette name carved into the rear.

Now, instead of a 2 mode, I want to see a EREV complete with a small displacement DI V8 with MDS. All wheel drive with a serious increase in hp should be available. It's trivial with electric drive. Let the Vette lead the way for sports cars.

Re: 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept Official Details
Personally, I'd love to the scissor-style doors make it to production. My only gripe is that people will say that Corvette is 'copying' Lamborghini. Maybe they could 'Corvette-ize' the shape of the doors to make it unique of Lamoborghini's design?
I think a Hybrid system is a must-at least as an option-and of course tuned 100% for performance. Do it GM!!

Re: 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept Official Details
Looks like the handiwork of the team that did the GTO concept several years ago.. 1999-ish. Some of the design cues especially the tail section.

Re: 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept Official Details
while I just LOVE the rest of the car, I can't take the rounded exhaust tips seriously... they look like something that came off of a 90's hot-wheels car

Re: 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept Official Details
With a little tweaking here and there, I can definitely see this as a C7. I really like the look of the interior, even though it may not carry over as shown.

I can't wait for the C7 so I can buy a C6 at a reasonable price!

Re: 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept Official Details
It really just needs to be copied/pasted into the C7. That's the type of interior a Corvette needs.

Every time I look at this car it just gets even more appealing, but I do think that the back end should be toned down a bit.

Re: 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept Official Details
I was 10 when the 1963 Stingray came out, so I remember first hand just how brave and ballsy it was compared to ANYTHING on the road then...if you are too young to remember that too, just Google 1963 sports car images and you will see what I mean. This Stingray "concept", put into production nearly as is with little of GM's usual tragic watering down, plus putting the Converj in production SOON, and a jawdropping XTS, would be a wonderful way for GM to make clear that they are back and kicking ass.

Re: 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept Official Details
It's a little wild for production, but there are a lot of great ideas rolling around there.
The way the form that pops out at the front works is particularly interesting because it solves the EU crash standard problem of how to do a sports car with a blunt nose. Sweet. The C7 may be very EU marketable - it's said to be 7/8 the size of the current car and 300 lbs lighter. Double sweet. |
