As much as I love the LS7 and want a successor to it. The Z07 has to be a high revving track car. It can't display the same engine that the Z51 or ZR1 has.

The Stingray will take time but i really dont see it going backwards. what ever GM decides to call their Halo C7, to LaFerrari will never happen. The chassis of either car is completly different. A Porsche yes, Lambo, GM best be laying out some good stuff or start developing a mid engine Vette. If GM really wants to make a Halo car that can take sales bite out of McLarean, Ferrari, Lambo, then they need to bring the right weapons to the track. Front Engine/RWD cars are good, but Mid Engine RWD/AWD are still better. Also if GM could develope the chassis to have AWD, this would just make it plain unbeatable in a straight line and at the track. If 2 wheels is good 4wheels driving is Better.

Why do you think my 91 GMC Syclone with a weak 290HP and 380pound of torque can still project me to 60 in 5 seconds?!
True, your bet set-up for hyper performance is the rear mid-engine. But remember that Corvette is actually a mid-front engine in that its engine is just behind the front wheels, much like the exotics place their mid-rear engines just in front of the rear wheels.

And if you are going to get stuck with legacy architecture, which would you prefer: front-mid engine? Or Porsche's rear-rear engine set-up? I think Corvette has the advantage here.

GM is not exactly known for its love of its names. There almost seems to be an internal competition of how many cars one can rename. The Z06 brand has incredible equity up there with the Porsche GT3. Why they would ditch it is beyond me.

Renaming the car would be stupid.

And the C7 Z06 needs to stay the course in relation to the C7 ZR1. There needs to be a pure track car AND a refined status car. (Much like F6 Z/28 to F6 ZL1)

If GM effs that perfect balance up, well.... I don't know what to say.

Outside of enthusiasts, the general public doesn't associate "C7" with the New Corvette Stingray... therefore thinking calling it "Z07" versus "Z06" because it "sounds better" is something Car and Driver has dreamed up. I'm hoping GM has more common sense than that.

I expect the upper level Corvettes to move up in price. They deserve it.

I could care less about it... as in, I don't mind. I would prefer it remain Z06 and offer Z07 as an uplevel performance package to raise ATPs.

The weight reduction in the Z06 + the loss of AFM equipment would probably give it slightly better gas mileage lol

Such bs if this car is going to use less displacement than the base model. Stupid CAFE.
