2014 Cruze to Borrow Impala Design Cues

I was thinking something like this...

Maintaining current headlights and fenders, with new grille theme:

I like this design. I like the look of the current generation Cruze's headlights, as opposed to the new Impala-look. This design looks looks distinctly Cruze, while offering a more upscale look using the new Chevrolet grill. As much as I like the new Impala, the front end screams Honda Accord. I don't look forward to seeing the new Impala (Chevrolet) face on other Chevrolet products.

Im guessing that NA will be the only ones receiving this facelift since the world markets already got a different facelift this past year?

If this holds true then it would makes sense why the Cruze is going to be completely redesigned in 2015. Several other markets outside of the U.S. received the Cruze in 2008 and those markets received an MCE Cruze for 2012, and in 2015 those same markets should have a completely redesigned Cruze, which would mean that the U.S. should have the completely new Cruze 2yrs. thereafter---circa 2017.

I would guess that the taillight lenses will be the same shape but adopt the plastic effects and colorations of the Impala.

The front end does not work as well as the current front end. The proportion is wrong and the eye does not follow the flow of the car as well. It also reminds of a Toyota, which I don't regard as a well-styled car. The current Cruze is a good design.

Looks good but I think 'borrow design cues' is a little misleading - pretty much grafted the entire Impala wholesale onto the Cruze - the headlights look a bit tweaked but I highly doubt it will take this much from the Impala - I mean the air dam didn't even change.

When nsap asked for this I did two renders, the one below is my idea of how the lower air dam could be changed up a bit. But when you are doing a story on insider descriptions that it has very close to the Impala front clip, and you don't know what any changes away from that actually are, best to stick close to what is knowable.

The grille and head-lights will probably be larger (in relation to the rest of the front-end proportions), as with this class of car, a more 'cartoon-y' look is what gives them a youthful and 'sporty' demeanor. Impala's literal design-elements were meant for a full-size flagship sedan, thus, much more staid.

I think they should bring out Eco-D sport with the engine from the Astra BiTurbo.

I like the current car much better, but it seems like more people like the coming version. The new look looks good on the Impala, but not as much on the Cruze, IMO.

that looks a lot better - I sincerely hope GM doesn't go back to making cookie cutter cars like they did in the 80s.

I did this same thing a little over a month ago just for fun in readers talent section. I did this chop because I'm concerned with the 2 new two design styles presented by Chevy with the new Bu and Impala. They certainly aren't cookie cutter but are so different from each other that it seems like they are going in two different design directions.

Something like this chop might bridge the gap between the styles yet keep the overall feeling of the current Cruze.



I do like your headlight treatment better - definitely integrates with the existing Cruze nicely

Ultimately we'll see when the MCE is revealed

very nice and subtle - love the changes, especially adjusting the hood (one of the most awkward parts of the current car) Others have mentioned this idea would be a cheap way to give it a fresh MCE and I agree.

There was yet another chop similar to the red one out. It had the C Pillar fixed and looked very cohesive and handsome. If anyone has it please post it.
