Eh? Not quite.
Collateral obviously has to be made available to print publications in advance. That material was clearly not intended to be circulated and someone violated an NDA in order for that to happen.
We generally receive embargoed images and information in advance. That is not happening with the Corvette.

Road and track and car and driver shots of the c7 are smoking hot. The jalopnik sketch that's been around for a long time was less than exciting.. (and that's being kind)
My point is that material is in "the media's hands". Just because GMI may not have any, doesn't mean it's not out there. Other outlets breaking the embargo is their choice.
I know magazines have to think about 2 months in advance. So, someone held their tongues that long. But they just missed it by a few days. Either way, it's a moot point. We're 12 hours away.

We will soon find out if this new Corvette is GM's futile attempt to copy the Viper, or a Corvette worthy of all this attention. If this photo is any indication, Chrysler should get royalties from every Corvette sold. Let's hope this pic is not close to accurate. I can only imagine all the #FAIL threads about this car, much like the new Malibu and trucks that we have on this site.
2013 Honda Odyssey EX-L
2005 Chevrolet Malibu
1999 GMC Sierra SLT
That's makes sense that magazines would get it early. They have to write an article, set up the pages, print the mags, then ship them all over the country, that takes awhile.
Future ride: 2014 Silverado
2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 4x4
2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx
Considering that both cars have been in development for over 2 years, I don't think either company copied the other. When the ZR-1 was a new model & the first Viper had been released, Motor Trend put both on the cover (half of the Viper, the other half the ZR-1). The cars looked almost the same. I can't find a picture of the cover now, but I'm sure that I am not the only one that remembers that cover.

6 hours, 24 minutes left until the official reveal
the grille and lights are ridiculously similar. It's hard to imagine Corvette copying the Viper at the last minute. The design must have been finalized well before the Viper was released. tragedy or serendipity?
