The new Malibu is really a solid car which has developed a bad reputation purely because some testers have not liked it.
There is not to say that there are not flaws with the new Malibu, for one I think the location of the manual shifter was a bad choice. This car really should have paddle shifters, also the Malibu is on the heavy side and can use some improved fuel economy.

I second that Malibu really looks much better in person than pictures.
It has an understated elegance that has grown on me as I see more of them on the road.

I like how at the end he compares it to the SOnata
Was that before or after they fibbed about the FE ?
Or Fibbed about the HP?
Sure the Malibu is not a class leading effort but at least it's honest

If these tests are accurate, I don't know how GM have screwed up so badly on a car that's probably the most important for GM to dominate.
I hope GM does not wait four years to remedy these problems. GM, are you listening?
Sonata Hybrid aside, that model is not affected by the recent investigation/lawsuit AFAIK. The horsepower probably is overstated though. Regardless of that, the Sonata is a very viable competitor to the Malibu. Between the two turbo packages, I'd go Chevy. I haven't gotten the chance to drive the new crop of family sedans, but IMO the Malibu seems really competitive outside of mileage and interior space. Sadly, those are crucial areas of making a winner in this segment. The Accord and Fusion seem to be the best offerings in the class right now.

I predicted this Malibu will do very well with sales; Not only here in the United States but Global on Global sales. just like the Cruze, which did not exactly receive a rousing welcome but has consistently outsold the Focus with only one Variant and on occassion slaying the giants like corolla and Civic.
Chevrolet knows the customers sweet spot.

Almost everything he said is subjective as hell too. I am honestly having a hard time judging the Malibu. So many reviews contradict each other it's not even funny. One says the ride and handling is good/class competitive another says it's terrible. One says the steering is good/class competitive another says it's numb with no feel what so every. I mean who are we supposed to believe here? Is it quality control at the factory? Is it biases reviewers?
Thank god for the Seattle auto show next week. Because of it I get to finally see it in detail and form some kind of opinion on it. Cause I'm not getting crap from these reviews.
