Nice gauges too. You gotta love the lighting and the layout. The Cobalt doesn't have that.

Having a redline on the speedometer is insane by itself, but if the Cruze had a top speed of over 230 MPH the Corvette would be doing 300MPH.

Yeah the Cobalt can achieve around like 36 or 37 MPG on mostly Highway driving but it can't achieve 40+ MPG along with having a handsome well designed exterior and a cozy well appointed interior.

How about this:

Definitely looks a lot sharper than the Cobalt's stale design.
A little early to declare a car not out for almost 2 years to be a hit. Don't forget the Euro Focus will be out then and I would bet the press will go gaga over it and go 'yawn' over the Korean designed Cruze.

Good, so you are a Ford fan. But I fail to see how the Euro Focus, which we have all been seeing for a while now will be any better. Guess a bias makes you blind sighted.

You need to be drunk on GM koolaid not to recognize that for a 2011 model, this thing is completely meh. As previously stated many times, by then everyone will be one generation beyond their current compacts.

Take it easy there buddy! First of all, whoever said that GM was going to release the new Chevy Cruze as a 2011 model year car? Ya know it's possible that GM may decide to get it to the US before 2011 after all it's a very important car for GM including the Chevy Volt. Second of all, it's people like you and Steve333 that are currently drinking KOOLAID. Instead of constantly bashing the new Cruze especially when you take into consideration the light years ahead it is when compared to the stale and cheap design of the new Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla, and Dodge Caliber you can't deny the fact that GM is on a roll. I would you suggest you and a few other people who constantly bash the product that GM constantly pushes to the market to go and take a HIKE!

I really like the Cruze. I think it's a huge step up from Cobalt (and I have a Cobalt, which I like, too). But Rick Wagoner said back in August when production of Cruze was announced for Lordstown that it would go into production in April 2010 as a 2011:

"Wagoner said GM will begin production of the Cruze at Lordstown in April 2010. It is to debut in Europe next spring."

I am afraid that may be true since the powerplant plant isn't even built yet. Why they don't ship in March like they do in Europe with the 2.0l diesel is beyond me. I and a few people I know would prefer that. But the wait game is something sadly we are used to.

That said, I think it will still be competitive in 2011 here in NA.

At the base of the center headrest is what appears to be a loop of fabric, serving as a pull for the center armrest/passthrough. It's possible that is a shadow, so we'll just have to wait for more images to confirm.

I hope so, because if they put a rear armrest in the Cruze chances are all of Chevy's next generation of vehicles will have it also, a shocking omission in this day and age IMO.

Yea and to get 36-37 MPG you have to shift your own gears.

That's where I disagree. Unlike you, I think it's important to make sure to compare apples to apples. This fine piece of GMDAT engineering has to be compared to the 2011 Mazda3, the 2011 Honda Civic, the 2011 Ford Focus, the 2011 Nissan Sentra, etc. if you want to be fair.

And I'm definitely not ready to claim in advance, as you seem to do, that the 2011 Civic is a "stale and cheap" competitor.
