nope... especially when GM is broadcasting images for a car that won't even be here for two more years.

typical fashion with GM as of late.

Thumbs up. I've heard replacement of Viva is scheduled in Oz around June, but there was certainly some restraint of optimism in the tone of his voice. Take that as you will.

This is a kick ass interior, agreed that it looks class leading.

GM NA needs this car ASAP. IMO the Colbalt name is much better to carry over to the Cruze....esp if the guys are gonna buy.

Can't wait for the SS pics.

I honestly do not know. I doubt they just want to keep selling the Cobalt because they printed up too many Cobalt sales brochures.
The real reason is that Americans are not quite ready to pay a lot for a compact car. Europe has been paying lots for compact cars for quite some time. Look for the compact car segment to be more of what the mid-size segment is today and for prices to climb quite a bit over the next two years.

I am quite sold on this car. Let me first say that.

I do not believe it to be class leading in looks, however. That title still belongs to the Mazda3, but this is very, very, VERY close for me.

The interior is absolutely the I've seen out of a GM CAR CAR in years. I still think it looks a bit roundish and bubbly but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's definitely on par with the Civic's interior (I don't care what anyone says about it's weird design, it's a strong one) and the Mazda3, and easily trumps almost all the others, if not all.

My concern? GM's started this thing so early and got the hype out, that it'll die down before the car is released and it'll turn into an Astra.

That, or the competition will one up them. Being AS good as the competition is not the same as being better than the competition. The Cobalt WAS as good as the Civic, and then it was antiquated when they released the new Civic, especially in terms of looks.

I know people think Civics are hideous and ugly because they are Honda vehicles, and I admit the design is bizarre, but they took a chance and it is much better than some of their new designs (anyone see the new Acura sedan? PUKE).

However, Americans DO pay a premium for some small cars. A Mazda3 or Civic EX-L with navigation is into the 24,000 range. That may not be premium car prices, but for a small compact car, it's a little bit.

A new EX-L Civic Hybrid with navi puts you back $27,000.

Re: 2011 Chevy Cruze Interior Shown at Paris Auto Show

The problem is if GM bring this car to NA NOW, it will be a class leading one, but within 2 years time, i am sure the competition will be able to catchup, there will be a new Mazda 3 next year.

The interior looks really Opelish, oh by the way, is GM going to make a Hatchback version?

Are they going to sell the New Astra and Cruze at the same time??

PS: Ooooops forget to mention, it;s an awesome interior, nice work GM

Americans in general may not, but there are a lot of us that are. I like the Astra, but it is underpowered for the price. What does that leave me-the Mazda 3?(which I am considering) I've looked at the Cobalt, and while it is nice it is not worth a purchase for me. If this were available in the next 6-9 months, it would be at the top of my list. Two years may be too long.

I do, however think that GM has a hit on its hands and this will sell great when it is released. It is unique and looks like a quality design, along with great gas mileage should be in great demand.
