Re: 2011 Chevy Cruze Interior Shown at Paris Auto Show

Only the Mazda and the VW come close, and the Cruze (from pics, so not definitive) beats them both.

It's a shame newer interiors like the Corolla and the Subaru look worse than the 3 and the Jetta.

I honestly do not know. I doubt they just want to keep selling the Cobalt because they printed up too many Cobalt sales brochures.
Europe has engines from the Astra that will fit in this car as an interim measure until the Turbo 1.4L arrives. The only engine available in the North American market is the 1.6L from the Aveo, the 2.2 and 2.4L from the Cobalt will not fit the engine bay.

She liked the interior, but said she could not see any difference with the exterior. Her best girlfriend that works here owns a Cobalt. I brought up a pic of a Cobalt and put them side by side, and she said, "I don't see much difference.". I told her about how it is a completely different car, and she tells me she would "much rather have a Toyota or a Honda". Not even a specific vehicle, just a "Toyota or a Honda".

I think GM could build a car designed by God Himself and idiots like her won't consider it.
Some people are sheep, but until now there was no compact built by GM that had any hope of comparing. The cobalt was a start, but when the car you are benchmarking is four years old, there is not a lot to be expected. But this is great now, and I hope it is great in 2 years when it finally gets here.

Looks great. I really like the blue fabric on the dash, doors, and seats. Looks classy.

I don't get the door lock switch on the center stack though.

Re: 2011 Chevy Cruze Interior Shown at Paris Auto Show

WOW,...just wow......

i have been waiting for quite some time to see interior pictures (since i already love the exterior). I must say that i am VERY VERY impressed with the interior! This thing is defiantly class leading, and if built solid, will be the best car in the segment in many categories. Way to go GM, now get it here SOON!!!

P.S. KEEP THE BLUE GAUGE LIGHTS!!!!

Good lord!

That is an amazing interior. Class leading by a country mile. No one else even comes close. I'm blown away to say the least. Now if there's a Cruze SS, I may just have to trade the MazdaSpeed3 in.

Re: 2011 Chevy Cruze Interior Shown at Paris Auto Show

I really love what GM designers are doing with the hood on the Cruze, instead of the traditional flat hood lowering into the fenders, the hood is sculpted into the rest of the side on the edge of it, then a sharp crease that comes from the a pillar gives the car a menacing look. I am very impressed on what GM has been doing with body lines lately, but this looks so good I had to point it out.

Re: 2011 Chevy Cruze Interior Shown at Paris Auto Show

with all those buttons in the "center stack" i bet there will lots of crashes as drivers take their eyes off of the road to see what button to push. my 08 corvette "center stack" is what all cars should have in the name of safety and you would not need all those crush zones and air bags to protect the occupants.

Re: 2011 Chevy Cruze Interior Shown at Paris Auto Show

Likes:
Center Stack is attractive
Side profile of car looks nice
Steering Wheel

Dislikes:
Front end and rear end look awkward, design just does not flow smoothly.
The rear window-that awkard bar running horizontally in the middle of nowhere and the cheap black plastic insert.
Black trim around side view mirrors looks cheap.
Fabric on the dashboard is a BAD idea. Impossible to clean and will look like ass in a few years.
Fear that the interior will smell as bad as an Aveo.
Horrible name for a car.

I'm not impressed at all. I really want to be, but I'm not. Let's see what the next version of the Focus looks like, I have a feeling it will make the Cruze (ugh) look like it was designed by a High Schooler. Or a Korean designer..........wait, it was.

Very nice for a compact. And heated seats, too.

I like the coloured interiors. This truly does make the competition look lame. I guess GM finally gets the "not just meet, exceed" type of requirement for them to lure folks back.

Wow that is one FINE looking interior! Nice to see that GM can do quality WHEN they make it a priority.

The competition

WOW! I'm stunned at how cheap and tacky the interior of the Dodge Caliber looks. The interior of the VW looks good but in comparison to the new Chevy Cruze's interior it looks a bit drab.
