Re: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe REVEALED!

The range of configurations and models – particularly the heavy-duty models, which most competitors simply do not offer – give SUV customers tremendous choice when selecting a vehicle to suit their needs. The strengthened chassis of 1500-series models (short wheelbase) enables towing ratings of 7,200 pounds (3,266 kg) for most 2WD models and 7,700 pounds (3,492 kg) for most 4WD models.

Uh Tow Ratings 7,700 Pounds! AAHAHA the expedition 4x4 pulls 8600!

And let's wait and see how they perform before condemning the powertrains. I think we are pretty confident that the gas mileage will continue to be class-leading, as they've already said there will be improvements across the board. And with the horsepower increases, and increased availability of the larger engines, power shouldn't be a problem either (provided they avoided Ford-like gross increases in weight - but with all the extra equipment added, that's going to be tough). Maybe the smoother transitions between narrower ratios will be missed without the 6-speeds, but let's drive them first, shall we?
I agree.....while James' info may not have been right on, if you look at what he said, it is real close to what has just been released. Sounds to me like he just got a lot of it jumbled up. Example, the horsepower #'s he gave us are right on.....just on different size engines.......... So while some of what he said is probably bogus, a lot of it really was right on or if not close to being true..........

Not much better,like buying a K&N!
I'm guessing (just guessing) that the Tahoe will get a 6.0L (on a non-SS model), so it could have more than 320. I think both the Denali and the Escalade could have the 355 hp 6.0L. The 350 hp, if you'll notice, is the heavy duty version, meaning the 3/4 ton Suburban and Yukon XL.

No mention of the big block, but the 6.0L is making more power anyway, and it's torque has probably increased too, although it won't match the big block's.

And of course, you can probably still buy a K&N with these engines, if you are so inclined.

It's true, the hp ratings are all pretty much there, just on the next size up engines. If those engines are available where the smaller ones used to be, and offer the same or better mileage, then it's kind of a wash.

Re: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe REVEALED!

I thought these features were not going to be available:
  • Power-assisted rear liftgate
  • Innovative power fold-and-tumble second-row seat
  • Power-articulating running boards
That's pretty good. I knew a power second row would eventually be used.

The truck looks quite good. I like it.

Re: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe REVEALED!

So far it is looking better than I expected, and I expected alot! Now I gotta check out the other threads with more info...

Hopefully the 6spd on the 6.2 will be temporary, while they ramp up production of 6spds or somethin, then they'll spread through the entire line... here's hope'n! Anyway, the hybrid tranny will be the best one out there within ~1 year of release!

Re: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe REVEALED!

One glaring mistake: It appears to me that the third row seats do not fold into the floor, like those at Ford, and just about every other competitor.

Someone please prove me wrong!

On the other hand, the split third row is a wonderful idea. I can't tell you what a hassel it is to remove the third row seat in my Yukon.

The 2000-2006 Tahoe had a split rear seat too. It's not used in the Suburban and XL. I know what you mean about the third row being a hassle to remove (I have a Suburban), but I honestly don't find many occasions to remove it. There's so much room in a Suburban that it's not necessary. If I haul 4X8 sheets of whatever, I just put the third seatback down and lay the panels on top.

I could see the third row needing to come out of a Tahoe a lot more often.

I disagree, James spoke of 385hp and 435hp uplevel 5.3/6L, a 4.8 with more power than whats here - I don't think he got anything right, exept the 400 - which I could have guessed, and the 355hp number. There was no mention of 320, or 6.2s or anything. He was way off.

Re: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe REVEALED!

Im quite disapointed in the use of 4-speeds, was hoping to see more 6-speeds used! Im glad to see more power, and more use of the DOD, though the fuel economy hasnt seemed to go up much....thats a bummer! The Tahoe gets 20.5 for 2WD, 20.1 for 4WD, not different from the previous estimates.

Re: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe REVEALED!

They may be holding back on the 6 speeds until they know the bugs are worked out of them. I'd rather see a recall impacting a small fraction of the total number of Tahoes then all of them.

Oh, and James wasn't close on anything. Was he saying that the Tahoes would be SFA, or was that just the trucks? The Tahoe is still independent front end.
