Do they combine the corolla/matrix sales in one?

I think so. It'd not be unlike the combination Camry and Solara sales, as they share a name and are more or less on the same platform.

It would be more accurate to say that they don’t report them separately. The window sticker says Toyota Corolla Matrix. I believe Toyota also dose this for the Camry Solaria. If GM were to sell a Cobalt HHR, cobalt sales would be 77,835. This would be beating the Accord and nipping at the civic. GM dose put the numbers to better use boosting there light truck fuel economy numbers because the HHR is counted separately and as a truck. I wouldn’t be surprised to Toyota do this account for the upcoming fuel economy regulations.

Looks like the top dogs remain unchanged from 2005. The Civic caught some nice sales from the 2006 redesign and I think 2006 begins the downfall of the Explorer. The Explorer is seems so irrelevant now... it's like a past relic.

Fleet sales are counted in the chart... there's no way the Taurus could make it up there without fleet sales.

Re: Top-20 selling vehicles in U.S. through March

It's BS that Toyota gets to count the Corolla and Matrix as one model. The Civic's gain is very impressive...maybe there is something to the car that was deserving of all of those awards. I know the outgoing generation's sales were declining toward the end of its lifespan, but a 32% gain on that kind of volume is impressive. So is the Cobalt's gain...but was that due to production ramping up?

The Explorer has been sucking since the fall...it's declined faster than the Trailblazer, making the Trailblazer the "winner" (in a Pyrrhic way) for 2005.

Not really. The Matrix is merely a Corolla wagon. Other than the dashboard, and the fact that it's a wagon, the Matrix is pretty much identical to the Corolla. Same wheelbase length, same engine, same transmission, same everything. The only cheat is that they are advertised as seperate models (although the official model name is "Corolla Matrix"). This also explains why the Vibe is built at a plant that builds Corollas but not Matrixes.

Good news. Accord and Camry went down, Malibu and Impala went up. (a little bit). But the Asians still lead by far in small cars. The Corolla and Camry are stomping the Cobalt and the Focus is barely on the chart.l

The Taurus is apparently fleet-only now.

Wow the Impala is close to passing the Accord in sales( 10,000+ difference). I think if they can do that it wll be a very good thing.
