Solstice/Sky Production Soars

Source: Automotive News Data Center

While I have read no new details, I noticed that Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky production was scheduled for almost 1,000 units for the week ended 08/05/06.

Apparently, GM has "fixed" any prior production "problems".

A/N Data:

Pontiac Solstice: 630
Saturn Sky: 353

Total: 983

Yearly production based on above figure: 47,184 units.

As Edmunds® would say...

"What this means to you"...

Your wait is getting shorter!

Re: Solstice/Sky Production Soars

You sure that they have the numbers correct?

The reason I ask that is that the Solstice is for N/A only whereas the Sky will basically be sold under 4 nameplates.

I know the Opel and Daewoo models plus the Sky make three, what's number four?

I have no way of knowing if Automotive News has their figures correct.

However, based on GM July production figures, they do look accurate.

GM reports Wilmington produced 2,275 vehicles in the last half of July (1458 Solstice and 817 Sky models).

There will be no RHD, so there will be no Vauxhals, or Holdens.

Re: Solstice/Sky Production Soars

I think the wait for Solstices is longer (or more accurately people have already been waiting longer) than for the SKY. So maybe GM is trying to fill the Solstice orders quickly.

All i know is that in Canada we are suppose to receive 7000 skys next year compared to this year's 3000, according to a saturn dealer i spoke to recently, because they will be building more.

The wait in my home city (Aurora, Colorado) is only like 2 months.

Re: Solstice/Sky Production Soars

I've been waiting for 8 months now on a Solstice. Its a small dealership and they are not jacking the price over sticker so I'm willing to wait. It used to be that when you ordered a GM car, the dealer got a build date. Does this not happen anymore? The salesman tells me they don't give them dates anymore?
