Right hues mean lots of green to GM, carmakers

Crazy for color

Sporty yellow tones are growing in popularity. Copper and brown tones are becoming more significant. Shiny purples with shades of dark red are gaining attention. Silver has been the most popular car color in recent years. Look for yellowish and bluish reds, as well as wine and maroon colors. Experiments continue with faintly colored whites and hues whiter than in the past. The return of blue is expected to be a major trend in the next three years.

Re: Right hues mean lots of green to GM, carmakers

I like the growth in new car exterior colors but the increased interior color options on the new GM cars is a welcome change from the boring gray and tan interiors that seemed to dominate in the past 10 years. I remember my mom had a Cadillac Sedan Deville back in the mid 90's that had a burgundy interior with a white exterior. She loved it. Now she drives a silver Town & Country Limited with gray leather interior.

Interior colors seen on the Acadia, Outlook, Enclave, Aura and Sky give hope that a more interesting color palate will return to all GM brands.

I hope we see all those colors on the Camaro. They certainly look good.

Re: Right hues mean lots of green to GM, carmakers

Back in the 60s and 70s almost every exterior color had its own matching interior upholstery color. We had a 1978 Impala Landau Coupe with 2 tone metallic blue exterior and matching light blue cloth interior, dashboard was blue too. I don't think we need to go back to that practice but I am glad to see a few more color options on the outside and inside.

Funny. I'm thinking of Imperial Blue for my Impala because I see so few blue cars on the road, and I wanted something close to black but not as hard to keep clean.

I like that copper for the Camaro. Are those actual colors of the Camaro?

I'm thinking either yellow or copper for my Camaro. Two-tone seats and interior would be sweet, to match the exterior.

Those look like Chevy's most used colors right now. That copper can be found on the Cobalt and Corvette, and look freakin' amazing in my opinion!

Nice! That blue is my favorite shade on the Impala, hands-down.

I never knew I was such a trendsetter when I ordered my metallic blue car in August 2003. Hopefully the anticipated popularity of blue will be a plus for me when it comes time to trade it in!

I always thought it was a really attractive color, and I'm surprised how you see relatively fe cars on the road with colors other than white, black, grey, tan/gold, and silver. If you add those five together, in 2005 that made up 70% of all new cars. How boring! My other vehicle also has color...it's called "Red Brawn" but it's like a reddish maroon. I also don't see that color on the road very often either.

My dad's picking up his 2007 Suburban LTZ 4x4 today and it's grey. I think the Sub looks great in the blue color that is in all the ads, but it's too late to save him from himself.

I'm sick of all them silver Toyotas everywhere. It's about time for silver to go away.
Yellow doesn't look all that bad on a sporty car, those banana Chargers are pretty hot.
I'll take my 2010 Firebird Trans Am Ram Air in impulse blue metallic, please.

I think GM's Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic is one of the best colors on the road right now. It is good to see a little more adventure when it comes to automotive colors these days. Not long ago, the choices were pretty basic.

But I'll take my '09 Cam/aro in Hugger Orange with white racing stripes, please.

Re: Right hues mean lots of green to GM, carmakers

I guess I just don't see what is so how about Silver. 9 out of 10 cars look like it's just shiny primer paint.

I love blue... it's my favorite color. But on a car? It only works some of the time.

Give me black anytime. Not black metallic or "black-gold." Black. Might be hard to keep clean, but it's a small price to may for a classic and stylish look to a car.
