Re: Report: GM Looking To Boost July Sales; Will Broaden Employee Discounts

Local Ford dealer in Colorado Springs is offering a two for one deal. Buy an F-150 and get a Fusion or Focus free. I don't know the details but I would imagine that the F150 would be at MSRP and at least a Super-cab medium or higer trim level and the Fusion/Focus are close to base level models.

Exactly. I forget what sale it was but a few years ago GM did something stupid like this. Set a sales record for all-time sales in one month and the next month didn't sell ****.

GM needs to stop making more cars than the market can withstand. Their attitude of selling metal at any price costs them billions of dollars a year. Not to mention resale is horrible on many models they consistently run deep discounts on -- G6, anyone?

I just priced a 2008 online and the MSRP (fully loaded) is $24,225. The GMS price is $22,292, so you save almost $2000.

There is also $1500 cash back, so the final price is $20,792.
So GM discounts a small car $3500 and then wonders why they can't make money on it.

These guys running the show are really a piece of work. They want the public to believe they can't make money on small cars so we have to build them on imported Korean platforms. As a GM guy, it makes me sick.

I read in the UK's Financial Times some time back that Cerberus has sold most of its position in GMAC.

Re:GM Looking To Boost July Sales; Will Broaden Employee Discounts

My family are longtime loyal customers of GM but we live in a Ford town ( 2 Ford plants in Louisville, KY). My mother is ready to buy now but there are no GM plants in the area hence no GM employees. I would be very grateful to receive an employee number so that she can receive the GMS employee price if any one has a number they won't use.

From what I understand there are no more certificates to deal with. All you need to do is visit gmfamilyfirst.com, log in and select “New Vehicle Purchase” in the left navigation menu to get an authorization number. Enter my mothers date of birth 08/03/48 and her ZIP code, 40207. A screen will pop up with 9 digit authorization number followed by - GMS and the redeem by date. Then just email me the authorization number and the redeem by date to me at jamesworrell@gmail.com

I appreciate your assistance.

Sincerely,

Jim Worrell

Insane fixed costs. Might as well build the cars and retain market share if fixed costs are going to be there anyway.
