Re: Product Mix-ups Explained; 2009 Launch Time Line

I think GM needs a new marketing department as well as hire a new advertising firm.

any news on the 4.5 duramax? I know this is probably the last thing on most of your minds but i would love to know if this engine is still on schedule. I was extremely excited to hear about this engine and it would really suck if they decide not to do it, ford has already said they may be backing down from there 1/2 ton diesel program.

+1.

Step 1: get rid of pontiac's CAR term. Unless CAR= Cars All Rebadged.

The Cobalt name is not tarnished at all, the Cobalt SS just beat out much more expensive cars in a comparo, the car sells it just needs to be updated. Besides, that renaming canard was used for the Cavalier-Cobalt, the Grand Am-G6, Regal-LaCrosse, LeSabre-Lucerne, etc etc and EVERYTIME GM does this sales go down, not up.
Its asinine to change the name of the Cobalt to Cruze.
Wagoner does not need to OK names. LaNeve's staff is responsible for the research, LaNeve reports to Troy Clarke, who reports to Wagoner. Why would LaNeve have to go through his own boss to tell Wagoner "hey can you approve this name for me?". That is not part of Rick's job. Surveys have GM and non-GM fans. That way there is no bias.

Ummmmm.....any update on the Pontiac G8 GXP??? That's been extremely under the radar given that it was met with great fanfare upon it's debut last year.....

I'm anxious to know about availability too. I'm thinking about getting a used Yukon XL Denali with the 6-speed tranny (they are incredibly cheap on the used market right now) and doing an engine swap to the diesel when it arrives. Pretty easy to financially justify with the price of used large SUVs in the toilet.
