Re: Watch Senate Hearings Regarding Big 3 LIVE

Rick wasn't all that bad... But the hearings AREN'T going well in my POV

Having Chair Dodd start out by saying that Paulson and Bush could give the $25 Billion TODAY without these hearings says a LOT... Politicians love to transfer blame and responsibility... Especially when the outcome is unclear and the poll numbers look TERRIBLE.

Rick etal have just rehashed what the 37 page plan already says... nothing new so far...

Everyone is talking about total lack of financing... No one has noticed that market share has been in decline long before the oil crisis and the credit crisis.

I think the suppliers did more damage then good. First they said they will NOT go broke if any of the big three go into Chapter 11. Next they say that they want to help the big three START to build quality and efficient small cars... (like the big three hasn't been doing this in the past)

Chrysler is getting HAMMERED. Of course their big plan is to "partner" (aka sell) the company to some other manufacture... The Senators will get tared and feathered if they give Chrysler $7 Billion and then all of that money goes to TATA motors.

Oh no now Rick is getting hammered as Dodd points out that the need for Buses have grown over 30% in the last year... Why did GM stop making buses... "Err Ah... we sold off that division..." Rocket Scientist.

Rick sure blinks a lot..

Now they are pointing out that market share is in the tank and getting worse... The plans are coming unraveled... Economists are now predicting a 80-125Billion "final" bailout... with little chance of repayment.

Economist says bankruptcy would be "cataclysmic" but is the likely outcome.

He is recommending that the tax pay is on the hook either way.... that we should give them $34Billion now.... hope for the best... but expect they will be back next fall for more money...

Senator Shelby is a old jackass......he is doing one thing, trying to destroy the American automobile because he has 4 foreign plants in Alabama, and is trying to lure 2 more. I cannot think of anyone I dislike more, he is a disgrace to this country.

Senator Shelby is a jackass for sure. Mr. Dodd needs to take away his time and give it to a senator that won't waste out time.

60% percent of the people in the latest poll are against this. Shelby is just voicing same argument the unknown masses would have.

Richard Shelby... Do I need to illustrate what concessions look like? If so, look here.

What has been stated is what get many in the public so RILED up. This isn't by no means a one time request from the big 3. That argument is just now being discussed.

Re: Watch Senate Hearings Regarding Big 3 LIVE

It it just me, or is it painfully obvious what Sen Shelby - Alabama is up to? It appears to me he wants Detroit to fail so that his Alabama constituents will benefit? Alabama has 3 auto plants including Hyundai, Honda and Mercedes-Benz. I swear he is still fighting the civil war and this is his chance "for the South to rise again". This is pure politics in it's worst form...what ever happened to focusing on the common good for all?

It certainly helps that Sen Dodd is on board with doing the right thing. Write your Senators and Representatives!

60% of the people do not know their butts from a hole in the ground.....Shelby is doing one thing setting his state up for more foreign plants. He is a disgrace, and should be living in a box, under a bridge on the interstate, rather than a US Senator.

He might want to ask where they are going to get their parts for those assemblies once the Big 3 fall, considering Hyundia is a bit player and relies on the same supply base as everyone else... Idiot.

Yeah, I don't know why congressmen and senators from the south with foreign auto plants assume all will be still be well and good if the Detroit three go down. Those plants are going to be affected too. Toyota just fell 31% in sales last month I believe.

Re: Watch Senate Hearings Regarding Big 3 LIVE

I could have sworn I heard Mullaly say that Ford would not put our money in first priority of security whereas GM and Chrysler would...and all because it would be a default under Ford's current loans. My only response to that is screw Ford's current lenders; new money takes priority. Get a waiver.
