Nissan Cube and 2 other Nissan Subcompacts will come to the U.S.

Current Gen Cube (Since 2002):

Quote:
Japanese media reports that Nissan is planning to throw in more subcompact cars in the North American market as early as next year. Alongside the Versa will be the next-generation Cube and two other subcompact cars. Nikkei is reporting that one model could be priced below $10K, which will indefinitely trigger a price war here in the US.

GM unveiled the Spark last year, which is roughly priced around $7300USD, in India. GM also has the three mini-car concepts ready, so they should have no problem. The Cube will compete alongside the Scion xB in the fierce subcompact market and Nissan comes at a right time as fuel prices are rising and fuel economy is being taken very seriously in purchasing a car now.

Re: Nissan Cube will come to the US

Hate to say it but that thing looks pretty cool. Granted the asymmetrical back is probably love or hate. I can see this selling, but I think that nissan needs to get the bevel concept to the showroom floor ASAP before other brands get in on the act first. Time for them to lead rater than follow.

Not another cube! As my dad says, "those are the ugliest things on the road."

I want to know what the two other subcompacts are. The Versa is nice, but too bizarre looking for me.

It might be ugly but like Scion, I am pretty sure Nissan will laugh all the way to the bank.
Gee, it seems that every other automaker is bringing over smaller more fuel efficient vehicles for the US market. Where is GM in all of this?? Oh I forgot GM is still trying to debate the need of its concept Triplets.

I'm sure GM is dismissing this and other subcompacts just as they did with the Prius. Then 3-6yrs after the subcompacts have had success they will come out with thier own.

My thoughts exactly - cheap & lightweight with a smaller engine.

Now, all Nissan has to do is market it correctly with fixed pricing.

Those tail lights set into the bumpers remind me of GM's 73-77 midsize wagons.
