New York Times - "Empty Rhetoric"

Not sure if this particular column has been posted or not.

"Recently, New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman has been firing all barrels at General Motors. In a June 14 column, Friedman explained his position against GM:

...

Most importantly, the transition to alternative fuel systems will not be instantaneous. In the meantime, there is nothing wrong with a company that supplies something its customers desire. Thomas Friedman would do well to limit the empty rhetoric and do some actual digging on the technologies that are being developed by GM and other manufacturers. That legwork is not hard to do; after all, the world is flat these days."

its great to be there when a once respected writer, ruins his career based on a few statements.... so long Thomas Friedman. R.I.P. 2006

the guy needs to shut his mouth, write objective columns, and enjoy his life. not give people drab slipshod journalism to read.

And the hits just keep on rolling in on Friedman. Great to see. Good seeing industry people call him out on his lack of research into his latest automotive pieces.

Bah!

I give credit to Steve Harris at GM for being diplomatic and objective, but I prefer Bob Lutz's view.

Friedman is a P.O.S., and so is his employer, the Chicken-S... NYT.

I feel better now, thanks.

Re: New York Times - "Empty Rhetoric"

This is what Ann Coulter says about NYT:

"My only regret with Tomothy McVeigh is he did not go to The New York Times building"

Then she apologized: "Of course I regret saying it. I should have added 'after everyone had left the building except the editors and reporters.'"

Nice girl, although I don't agree with her.

Re: New York Times - "Empty Rhetoric"

LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!

Thomas Fried-man comments on Corvette winning at Le Mans. (Again as usual).

GM showed again how out of touch they are buy sending their GAS GUZZELING sports cars to run in this thing called 24 hours of Le Mans. You don't see Toyoty out their waisting our precious natural resources and bodily fluids like GM does. How much gas did GM waist at this event. The European compeditors won in their class with a fuel efficient diesel powered cars. The only hope is when Toyoty inters this race thing with their hybrid powered cars. This will lead to Toyoty dominance of this event. I am not a racing expert but my understanding of it from reading consumer reports is that Toyoty can save this sport from the gas addicted monsters from GM.

This dude gets even more bazaar!!!

Aromanances, can we see where Mr. Friedman said this, as in a link or interview. I noticed all the spelling errors so I question its' validity.

Thomas Friedman is a moron, but I'm not sure he's THIS BIG a moron. I'm reluctant to believe this just yet too. It sounds like something someone was joking he might say.

I have absolutely no respect for her at all. She's a partisan weasal. Just like every other political pundit, it's only partisanship and foolishness if it's happening on the other side. The fact that she really thinks she speaks for the majority of the American people, or even that anyone treats her as though she is any journalistic merit is something that has long baffled me. But of course I wouldn't bring politics into this- whether you are liberal, conversative, moderate, populist, libertarian, completely apolitical or otherwise should have nothing to do with whether you want to see GM and Ford revive themselves and bring back some of the American jobs we are losing...

Friedman has really helped GM, because others are now calling foul play and defending GM. (DCX, industry pundits, and more to come)

YES! Let this guy run his mouth and in a year when we see FoMoCo and DCX saying that GM is doing well, it will be on the news and everyone will see that GM is trying to make hurtles
