McDONALD’S® “SUMMER OF HAPPY MEAL® FUN” CONCLUDES IN STYLE
WITH MINIATURE FASHION AND BIG OFF-ROAD ADVENTURE

McDonald’s Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals to Feature
Polly Pocket™ and HUMMER ® – August 4 through August 31, 2006

Oak Brook, Ill., August 3, 2006 – From the littlest name in fashion to the biggest name in on- and off-road
vehicles, McDonald’s “Summer of Happy Meal Fun” is coming to a close with a Happy Meal event of extreme
proportions. Beginning August 4 – August 31, 2006, young guests will receive one of eight Polly Pocket™
miniature fashion dolls inspired by the PollyWorld™ toy line, or one of eight powerful HUMMER vehicles, with
the purchase of a Happy Meal or Mighty Kids Meal®, at participating McDonald’s restaurants, while supplies
last.

General Motors’ line-up of HUMMER vehicles features unmistakable design and unparalleled off-road
capabilities. Always ready for adventure, HUMMER’s iconic vehicle design sparks the imagination of children
nationwide. McDonald’s Happy Meal and Mighty Kids Meal HUMMER line-up features molded accessories,
PVC tires, and the power and performance of HUMMER packed inside eight cool vehicles.
The Metallic Sand H1 is a free wheeling vehicle with a retractable winch – pull out the winch to watch it retract.
Rev the Red Flame H1 SUV or the Black H3T forward to send them powering ahead, or pull back the Midnight
Blue H3X to watch it steer forward slowly and then pick up speed. The Desert Orange H3 SUV and Slate Blue
Metallic H2 SUT feature wind up spare tires and are ready to off-road with a special switch to guide them
forward, left or right. The Yellow H2 SUV charges forward when pulled back, and the Laser Blue H2H offers a
truly enlightening ride – push the vehicle along to see the hydrogen tank flash green. For added fun, guests can
customize their H2H with custom-applied “Hydrogen” stickers. This dynamic collection captures the power,
excitement and unique styling that make HUMMER one of the most recognizable vehicles on (and off) the road.

Excellent investment in future customers. These are among the little details that GM must execute.

I like it.

What I find funny is this.... in the link you read about Mattel Corp and how they have HotWheels and Matchbox both under their wing.... that is funny considering the many people who are die-hards about what they collect... I collect Matchbox... not HotWheels... and etc.... when, in reality they are made by the same Corp.... doesn't that sound familiar... the little things the public doesn't know.... kinda reminds me of some of the GM Family of vehicles an the people that don't know a certain vehicle is under the GM umbrella... it's good stuff... I just love it!

GO GM!!!

Totally cool! I love Chevelle, Cutlass, Roadrunners, cudas and those types of cars because of my Hot Wheels and building those models when I was a kid. Toys have a life long effect on peoples choices when they grow up.Thats a fact. They should do more PR like this with their cars.

Re: Need A New Hummer? Head For McDonalds

So a Hummer in a Happy Meal makes more marketing sense than a Fusion in a cereal box?

Interesting how a promotion from GM gets praise while a very similar one from Ford gets mocked.

How many of those Happy Meal kids will grow up to buy a Hummer? Few. How many of those Fruit Loop kids will grow up to buy a Fusion? Many. There's obviously no way to know the direct impact of either promotion on future sales, but both of these are good for establishing brand/model interest from a young age. There's a reason the tobacco companies got in trouble for targeting youth with their ads. Get 'em young and it makes it that much harder for the competition to steal them away.

awalbert88, I think you've missed a key component of marketing: brand loyalty. These things get tied to our emotions rather than logic, proving that buying habits cannot be swayed unless tugging at strings of the heart.

Personally, my family owns a 1981 full size Chevy 4x4. To me, that will always make ANY Chevy 4x4 nostalgic, just because I love that damned truck. It's imprinting, and I guarantee you that young minds are impressionable. Even if a kid cannot afford a HUMMER when they're 35, they will probably have some kind of fond recollections of playing with the small cars from their Happy meals.

And that makes all the difference.

i think what he's saying is that it's amazing how this Hummer promotion is getting praise when the Fusion cereal box promo was dogged by many people here. i wouldn't mind finding that Fusion with the Target logo on it, i'll tell you that much....

A) What Fusion in a cereal box?
(A more promenant ad/ higher profile/ more often seen promo works better every time) More people in McD's than staring at a box that spends more time in the cupboard than in plain sight. Both[however] are effective ad campains.imo

B) Fusion? (a more promenant ,higher profile[good or bad press] will get more attention, Always.)Hummer is a much more widely known vehicle weather peoplr like them or not. also imo

C) What makes you think fusions or current model hummers will still be in production by then anyway?

D) Fusion is a dead product at this time anyway. once again imo.it's a Ford
