Re: The 'Most-Loved' New Vehicles

I'm suprised that the public would favor the Corvette over several Porsche entries; Porsche buyers seem to adore their cars.

I have to say that I generally can see that he winners would win their respective categories, though the two glaring exceptions are the two winners from Kia: people find the Amanti more "APEALing" than the Maxima or the Magnum?! And the Sportage over the Xterra?! The Aztek I can see, but my god, what are some people thinking?

Grand Am is second runner up! That's impressive! I guess people that like them really like them! Same with the Kias... I think that no matter what price range or class, if your car meets or exceeds your expectations, you're going to rank it high. My car can't really compete with many, but when I consider what I paid for it and the fact that I knew about its weaknesses before I bought it, I'd say I'm 100% satisifed, and love my car.

I would say that is REALLY good news for the G6. Hopefully, most of these Grand Am owners will go back to the Dealership in a couple years and purchase their new G6! Bodes well for long-term sales figures, with minimal incentives, especially if these people love their Grand Am and the G6 is 10x the car! And the G6 was the winner of that segment!

I currently have a Grand Am, and when I decide to have a car payment again, I'll be getting a G6. No doubt about it.

having never driven the Amanti i can't say much about why it won its class, but the Sportage is a VERY nice vehicle for its segment and quite honestly blew me away me on a recent drive. Hyundai (owns Kia) has done a LOT to turn the corner and has been making some nice cars lately. every automaker out there should keep a close eye on Hyundai and be scared. they're making serious progress and will continue to do so. i don't think being considered a "value" brand is good enough for them any more, they're trying to be as good as everyone else and they're getting really close.

Some of winners dont make much sense, but Im glad to see GM in there. As much as Ive seen the G6 slammed by the press, I really didnt expect to see it on the list!

I thought Ford owned Kia. Hyundai is a separate Korean manufacturer, I think.

Kia has also lived at or near the bottom of the JD Power rankings recently, if my memory is correct. Hyundai, as you noted, has made huge strides in quality, according to Jd Power.

do the research over, Kia is owned by Hyundai. Ford used to use Kia to do the Festiva and the Aspire, but Hyundai bought them several years ago. Kia's quality has only recently begun to improve because they still have some older cars out there. the new stuff that is built on the Hyundai platforms with Hyundai powertrains is the good stuff. this includes the Spectra line, the Sportage, and the new Rio should also be pretty good.

The Grand Am doesn't surprize me. The GTs are friggin cool cars, and fast too. Some of those segment leaders were jokes though.

cough, cough, ridgelinge, cough, cough
