Re: Moraine GM Plant To Make SUVs Indefinitely

This plant will make them indefinitely.....by indefinitely they must mean until the 2008 model year ends and the UAW and GM get their new contract done.

If I worked at that plant...I'd be worried my job would only last another year and a few months...then it would be gone.

That's if GM can get the UAW to agree to closing Moraine and Oklahoma City and Hamtramck and Spring Hill #2 and Doraville and....

If not, they'll have to wait four more years for the NEXT contract to close Moraine.

Moraine isn't a UAW plant.

Re: Moraine GM Plant To Make SUVs Indefinitely

"Our plan is to continue to compete aggressively in this segment," GM spokesman Dan Flores said. "We have not announced any end date for these products. Ultimately, that will be determined by demand in the marketplace. While it is a smaller segment than it used to be, it is still a very important segment."
About 4,150 workers make the Buick Rainier, GMC Envoy, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Saab 9-7X and Isuzu Ascender.

That's great....now when the hell are they gonna update them!!! It really pisses me off when you commit to building a vehicle that is aging so badly.

True, it's IBEW...but it piggy-backs the UAW's contracts.

Wrong on the first part- IUE-CWA not IBEW

Right on the second part IUE generally just adopts UAW national and hashes out the rest locally.
