Re: Mini Cooper Plant Working 7-Days - Three Shifts - Dealers Have 1 Day Supply

It's too bad GM doesn't have a small, flexible, RWD car platform to build a sporty Mini competitor on. Oh wait...

Well it doesn't matter, because they don't have a small turbo motor to put into it. Oh wait...

Still, they'd have to come up with a Nomad-like concept first, which would be impossible. Oh wait...

Re: Mini Cooper Plant Working 7-Days - Three Shifts - Dealers Have 1 Day Supply

The Mini Cooper has MANY things going for it:

1) Historic brand name with consistent product over 40 years

2) Fuel efficient

3) Fun to drive (for men)

4) Cute and easy to park (for women)

5) High quality interior with tons of optional comfort and cool features

6) It's an import, which means it's automatically cool

It's a very focused product that appeals to a broad range of customers, all for different reasons, not unlike the Mustang. We may say it's overpriced for what it is, but it is in no way overpriced for the demand for this type of car.

A friend of mine is head over heels in love with her Mini Cooper S, and for as nice as it is, the highway behavior of this car is absolutely atrocious. Absurdly loud, expansion joints in the highway feel like we're smacking a curb head on at 70, and the car feels completely unsettled and uncomfortable.
