I saw one of those here in Omaha last week. Yes, it was the new 500, not the original. Does Fiat sell them in Canada or Mexico? It looked cool.

Really. Especially when the MINI starts at about $17K......

Ah, but here comes Bob to spoil the party!

" Europeans, at their fuel prices ($8.00/gallon as of this writing), are willing to pay premium prices for premium small cars that deliver terrific fuel economy. That is not the case here in America, land of the big truck and big horse" and, he added, " the big American."

“Not everyone is suddenly going to switch to very small cars, or tiny little pickup trucks, unless they suddenly decide to haul tiny little horse trailers carrying tiny little horses. ”

(...now stop hounding me about small cars and get over there and check out that new 8-passenger Enclave crossover and $40,000 Volt concept, you idiots...)

oil prices are falling and so will fuel prices once the libs lose the election. there 450 million vehicles in the USA that run on oil and they are not going away or going to be traded down in the next 10 years.

Yes, options that include a 2nd MINI, maybe.

Let's keep the political wishing out of this, let's stick to car-talk.

Very interesting. Is there room in the back for a carseat? Or two carseats? Just curious since I have a two year old and another one on the way (any day now!).

I think they look very sharp for a small car, distinctive from some generic Japanese or Korean small cars.

Re: Mini Cooper Plant Working 7-Days - Three Shifts - Dealers Have 1 Day Supply

My cousin bought a Chili Red Cooper S a couple of months ago and he loves the thing because it's quick AND frugal. He's even joined a Mini club.

I'll probably be buying a small car for every day use pretty soon and I've given some thought to a base Cooper since it gets great mileage and and so fun to drive. I'm more likely to get an Aveo or Fit, but the Mini is an economy car people actually want!

Certainly my dream..... to drive a covered go-cart which can haul zero, rides like it has square wheels. But whoa! Will I feel "sporty" or what?

Will be interested how many people over the age of 25 will be a REPEAT buyer after the novelty of the 1st one wears off.

Room for 2 in the back - recently I rode with my Father driving, me in the passenger seat, my mother and my daugther in a carseat beside her, and none of us felt "cramped".

We (Mother, Father and I) are big/tall, but none of us are particularly "fat".

It also has a Saturn ION like 3rd-door on the passenger side that makes getting in/out easier. Rear legroom is much nicer on the Clubman.

Sounds like the kewlness factor that the PT Cruiser used to have.

Lucky Chrysler has decided to dump the PT rather than cash in on its uniqueness factor. And who said the American car companies are run by a bunch of baboons?

If GM was smart they'd look to the past for one of the historic successful, well-done American small cars that was such a sales and psychological success.

A car like the...uhh, mmm, ehh, ummm, errr, uhh...

Falcon?
Corvair?
Chevy II?
Cimmaron?
Chevette?
Cavalier?

A MINI is exactly what I want. A small, light, great-handling car that gets great gas mileage so I can get to and fro, without spending a fortune on gas. The only thing I need to haul is ass...mine, that is. Just cuz you don't have a use for it doesn't mean you need to start smackin' it down. I don't have use for SUV's and you don't see me posting malicious, sarcastic threads about other people's choice in vehicles. The MINI isn't meant to haul anything. It's not meant to haul the toys to the lake on the weekend, it IS the toy you haul (in) to get to the lake on the weekend.

A valid point... But amazing things are happening... I own 3 Cars and a ute...
I make very good money... lets just say one of those types that Lutz says "doesn't care about the price of gas"...

On Monday (yesterday) my wife... who would normally drive 1/2 a block to the supermarket... Spent the whole day... with the Kids on bikes... They even biked to and from their TaeKwonDo Class... 8 mile round trip!

I could not believe it. I don't think she has ridden a bike in 20 years

She was just beaming when I got home...
Said it was the most fun she has had with the kids in years.
I could see my wife picking something like this now... Before she was "Buy me an Escallade"... Now I'm not so sure

The Mini, Cobalt XFE sold as they leave the truck.

Anybody else here think that the Montana mini truck couldn't do the same?
