The Latest GM CityCar Concept

Quote:
This is a joint concept first issued by MIT, GM and Frank Gehry back in 2004. It has gone thru a number of iterations since then until this version appears in the current Business Week "IN" section. Filled with the necessary technology to survive in a 21st century urban area – electric power, wheel motors, small overall dimensions and apparent all weather capability – the CityCar attacks one of the main drawbacks of conventional automobiles regardless of how they are powered – they take up too much space! Everywhere you take a car you need a parking space.

I see they put shocks in the wheels.

Good luck fitting shocks, a motor, electronic motor controls, power cables, brake rotor and pads, and a cooling system into very small wheels.

I would actually take that over a smart car any day, though i'm skeptical about the safety.

Where would you put your luggage, packages if you went shopping, or even groceries? It would be ok I guess for people that live in the city and never leave, only hopping between boroughs (i hate people like that, I met a person one time that thought my house in the suburbs was in a forest because I had a tree in my front yard).

A golf cart that has no room for bags. There is no way I would take this thing on a road with a speed limit over 15 mph...

That looks like a baby stroller! Is THAT what we have to drive around in to save the environment? I'd much rather have a Chevy Beat.

Re: The Latest GM CityCar Concept

if you read the article instead of just making assumptions it says that they are to be used in-side the city as fleets. Kinda of like a car-share program or instead of using a taxi u can take one of these for the day

Re: The Latest GM CityCar Concept

These aren't ment for the regular old person to go out and buy and use everyday. Its for people who have to get around a city and dont plan on leaving it while in this car
