Talking "The Grea GM News Story"?

Did anyone get a flyer in their mail from GM recently? Today I received a flyer that kind of got me thinking. It highlight's GM awards, production numbers and throughout the flyer underlines the patriotic heritage of GM.
I wasn't aware that 82% of GM products are made in the US, and 49% of toyotas. And also that GM employs 1 million americans while toyota has barely .03 million US workers. (30 000)

The closing was kinda neat it said in bold letters "Protect Metro Detroit, Protect Michigan, Protect America....Buy American Cars And Trucks".

I think they're trying to counter Toyota's gimmick, but quetly and not openly, or maybe it's just my dealer tryin' to get more sales. I'm sold

82% and 49%.

So much for all of those import lovers trying to convince us that the imports were as American as domestics.

Sounds like you got that because of your residency. Any way anyone could scan this and get it up online?????? I doubt I'll be getting that out here in Oregon.

But then again, all those cars have "fart burners" on them. That "fart burner" ads 5-10HP to your car ;some of those small Hondas can whip a Vett off the line. (from anti-rice.com)
So 115hp+10hp=430hp, at least in ricerland

All it does is validate the opinion that GM is 'on the run' from the imports. Is that the message you want to send?

Ok, then posit an acceptable strategy.
Toyota goes out of its way to snidely bash GM at every opportunity.
It's time to fight back and with the intended audience, it just might work.

Re: "The Grea GM News Story"?

This was put out by a dealer not GM corporate. This information definately needs to get out, but I agree with Mags, this was done wrong. A dealer can probably get away with this, but there is no way GM corporate should be putting out something like this.

The way to do it would be to either not mention the competition or do the comparison in a very neutral way - let the reader come to the conclusions.

You're right. Leave the competitor out, but focus on the positive things that GM does. GM definitely needs to work harder to get out the message about all the good things that GM does.
