Re: GMI Gives Readers the Facts!

I agree the Camaro is definitely a great idea to lift sales at GM, however it's sad to say that it seems like Chevrolet can survive without a Camaro. Now the question is, does GM want to merely survive or thrive!

Re: GMI Gives Readers the Facts!

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Motor America today announced sales of 40,416 vehicles for the month, which represents the best May sales in company history. Leading the way were the Elantra followed by the Sonata. The new Tucson SUV, named segment leader in the recent 2005 Strategic Vision Total Quality Study, set a single-month sales record with 5,732 sales.

"Despite the challenging automotive sales environment, we continue to set all-time sales records month-over-month," said Hyundai’s Vice-President, National Sales Ed Bradley. "Consumers are responding positively to the Grand Opening of our all-new $1.1 billion manufacturing plant in Montgomery, Alabama earlier this month, and the introduction of our completely redesigned 2006 Sonata which is the first Hyundai vehicle to be built in the U.S."

"We are excited about our potential sales growth in June with the arrival of an increasing number of the all-new Sonata in our dealerships," Bradley continued.

Re: GMI Gives Readers the Facts!

It seems that ford and GMs new models are doing very well, hopefully they get the hint and keep more of their models more current more of the time...

Re: GMI Gives Readers the Facts!

Maybe I'm not interpreting the numbers correctly or something but wasn't Toyota supposed to have passed DCX at this point?

It seems to me Toyota has a long, long way to go to catch GM in terms of total units sold.

Retail deliveries of several new vehicles again outsold previous year retail sales of the models they replaced. Chevrolet Cobalt retail sales were up 73 percent compared to May 2004 retail sales of Cavalier. Buick LaCrosse retail deliveries were twice the combined Century and Regal retail volume of May 2004. Pontiac G6 retail sales were 92 percent higher than year-ago retail Grand Am V6 sales.
The above is from the GM press release...

It's great to see the Cobalt doing so well. As for the G6, I hope the above shuts everyone up about how the G6 isn't selling well. The G6 seems to be doing just fine, thank you, and will only get MUCH better with the introductions of a base 4-cyl model along with the coupes and GTP models.

these are US numbers... global numbers are VERY different. Toyota is just above Ford, and Nissan is above Honda (i think). toyota is gaining in europe and asia, and basically runs the japanese market. toyota had cought up to DCX in the US in 2003 and early 2004 i think, but the 300 and its side effects pulled DCX back ahead.
