Detroit-based General Motors Corp. and Japan-based Toyota Motor Corp. are in a neck-and-neck competition when it comes to U.S. customer loyalty.
GM had the top loyalty for manufacturers during the 2007 model year, while Toyota was tops for brand loyalty, according to the 12th annual Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards.........
...........

In all, 63% of GM customers returned to buy another GM brand product during the year, compared with an average of 55% for the industry.
Meanwhile, 57% of Toyota brand purchasers went back for seconds, compared with 45% for the industry.
Lets see if we all can behave..... or....... howya' gonna explain that ?

I know my household is a happy-to-repeat-the-GM-ownership-experience again and again and again kinda family.

Don't have that - wish we did - maybe we will later, somehow.

That manufacturers performance by GM bodes well for the future .

They (GM) deserve some credit here - It would not have been surprising if Toyota or Honda had been in first .

Those numbers show at least part of an argument for a larger multibrand strategy - and room for improvement on retention by even Toyota and GM.

Re: GM, Toyota win top awards for customer loyalty

GM for me... I totally understand the GM Loyalty thing going... but, honestly... Toyota brand loyalty... what else do they make aside from Scion and Lexus that is sold in the US... If GM jumbled everything under the Chevrolet name it would certainly get the same honors... but, who would buy a Chevrolet CTS?! Or a Chevrolet H3.... then there's the Chevrolet Sky...

Good job GM... let's now get back to building great cars and trucks.. if you build them (and build them good) they will come...

63 to 57 is neck and neck? If the rolls were reversed, the headline would say "Toyota top for customer loyalty" with no mention of GM in the title.

We're gaining ground with the media with the Great GM products rolling out... give Toy some time to goof up and allow their success to get more to their heads... then it will be our time to shine all the brighter as GM enthusiasts...

you know this is not surprising. we rarely see people coming in to compare a chevy to a toyota. 90% of the time we're being compared to the chevy guy in the next town.

Well that is not a good thing. Chevrolet needs to get conquest sales before all the GM loyalist die off.

That JD Powers et al report showed thats pretty much the way it is in a larger sense . 80% of the import buyers look only at the imports. 80% of the Domestic buyers look only at the Domestics.

Someday somehow somewhere in the automotive world the lightbulb is going to go on - "Hey Joey, a customer life cycle approach is cheaper...."

I own an 08 HHR LT and I guess I'm one of the satisfied consumers. Go GM, Don't Stop! By the way, stop putting cheap plastic inside your car! You heard!
