Re: GM Staggers Under Losses

"Let's write another story about how bad it is at GM..."

"Dirty Laundry" by Don Henley
plays in the background

"I make my living off the Evening News
Just give me something-something I can use
People love it when you lose,
They love dirty laundry

Well, I coulda been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear
Give us dirty laundry

Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em all around

We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who
comes on at five
She can tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam
in her eye
It's interesting when people die-
Give us dirty laundry

Can we film the operation?
Is the head dead yet?
You know, the boys in the newsroom got a
running bet
Get the widow on the set!
We need dirty laundry

You don't really need to find out what's going on
You don't really want to know just how far it's gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry

Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down

Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're stiff
Kick 'em all around

Dirty little secrets
Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie
We love to cut you down to size
We love dirty laundry

We can do "The Innuendo"
We can dance and sing
When it's said and done we haven't told you a thing
We all know that Crap is King
Give us dirty laundry!

Right... Bush does not favor help for the auto industry but other industries get plenty.

Didn't they pay almost a billion for that stupid office building they are in?

Move to the suburbs....they'll save money in the long run (and probably the short term too).

So, what positive spin should be put on this news? Even overseas operations-yes, I know, yet another write-off erased what should have been GMAP profits-didn't perform in the way that it was expected. It's not doom and gloom, it's reality. Wagoner et al. continue to fail on a variety of fronts. Either the press reports this, or they report nothing related to the US auto industry.

Thank you for stating that so well, GM's problems are not Bush's fault and it s not Bush's job to fix it.

amen my brother. George has his own faults and difficulties, another subject altogether. GM's problems belong to Red Ink Rick and him alone.

Re: GM Staggers Under Losses

a lot of GMs big problems with customers not wanting to buy GM cars now stems from the V-6 intake gasket problems. GM should have sent letters to all the owners telling them to bring the cars in for a replacement of the gaskets no matter the age or the mileage or extended the warranty for extra miles. now after all the law suits they are going to refund costs to GM owners who had the trouble if they have the receipts . i know families who have bought GM cars for decades say they will never buy another one because of GM attitude about this problem. this deal cost GM lots and lots of customers for new cars.

I think this is the biggest problem that GM has, and it is so simple to fix. I have had nothing but GM since I started buying cars in 1977. All but one have been reliable and solid cars, and even the one that had prblems was not a bad car, I still put 186k miles on it. My daughter in-law has a Subaru Legacy and it had head gasket problem which left them stranded on the PA turnpike, she had it towed to the nearest Subaru dealer and eventhough the standard warrenty was over, they did not try to take her, they told her that the warrenty had been extended and that all repairs would be taken care of.
She will now be a lifelong customer, and all it cost them was, what $500 or $600 worth of parts and labor, they will get that back on the next 10 cars she buys in her lifetime, That is good business, Ive heard the same stories from Toyota owners that admit that they have had problems with their car or truck but that they were taken care off.
Do this GM and you will stop loosing customers.

my son had to have 2 3400 fixed at he total cost of $1200 and of course he did not save the paper work from the repair. he is out looking at a new toyota. how could GM be so dumb to piss off good customers just to make the share holders happy

It was more like seven hundred fifty million on the Ren Cen in 96. Plus EDS, Hughes then the worst of all was the deal with Fiat. They spent over four and a half billion on a company they don’t even have. All of that money could have been spent on the core business in North America.
