You can't continue to hold onto these dated platforms before it really starts affecting sales and perception if it hasn't already. I know the Impala sells but a big chunk are fleet sales. What is a realistic timetable for these two platforms to go away in favor of the new ones ? Ridding themselves of these platforms in favor of new models with 6 speeds, GM will be on their way.
The Impala retail sales percentage has been rising since last year when GM slowed fleet sales and last month retail sales rose 16% over March 07 with over 29,000 Impalas sold. The Impala puts a lot of money into GM's pockets and is still a viable car for it's purpose - it is reliable, gets good MPG, has good room and comfort for the price. Not all vehicles in a lineup need to be "leading edge", just a good value that delivers performance expected of it's buyers.

So how is the 2.9L I-4 not a high mpg engine? It gets all of 1 mpg less than a Tacoma that has less power.

I thought that the 2009 Hummer H3 was getting the 3.6 engine as the base motor

You trashed someone who went out of their way to enhance the information presented here. That wasn't cute.

They said a facelift so perhaps its just a few exterior and interior tweaks to get it by for a few years. Again, this came from an article in which Pontiac execs were quoted. If they were lying I do not know why they would. I honesltly cannot see the G6 going on for 3-4 more years with NO upgrades.

The Epsilon II G6 is due out in 2011 MY (so 2010 launch). I can't see GM spending money to refresh the G6. I suspect GM has about maxed out their intended investment of Epsilon I.

Re: GM Shows 2009 Changes!

Like I said the changes are probably extremely minor to the interior which received criticisms for the center stack. It would cost GM no money at all to give us the Corporate radio and some brushed alum or wood etc, ala Saturn Aura. Those changes would be fine, because I have no other problem with the interior in that car, it does have soft touch materials, nice gauges, seats etc.

I think they shuold probably modify the steering an handling so its as good as the Malibu or Aura.

Re: GM Shows 2009 Changes!

If Ep I has run its course on the Pontiac lineup in the G6, then the next G6 should be on Alpha! This car could have been a game changer in light of what has happened to gas prices. The window of opportunity is open, do it right GM!

Maybe he likes to post INFORMATIVE material here instead of just posting for the sake of posting! YOU have more posts than the ADMINISTRATORS here! I don't care if you had a job or didn't have a job. Are your 16,482 posts more informative than caddycruisers? I doubt it! Caddycruiser always seems to have something to add to the forums.

Guys, chill out. We should all be glad that CaddyCruiser posted those changes, it was beneficial to the site. Obviously we all have more time than we should or we wouldn't be on GMI period.
