GM Shareholders Grill Wagoner Over Declining Market Share

GM Shareholders Grill Chairman Rick Wagoner Over Declining Market Share, Future Plans

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Their proposals all were voted down, but that didn't stop several dissident General Motors Corp. shareholders from grilling Chairman Rick Wagoner over the company's market share decline and plans for the future at its annual meeting Tuesday.

Although Wagoner opened the 2 1/2-hour meeting with a speech touting progress the company has made in its turnaround plan and on advanced technology, several shareholders expressed dismay at the pace, saying GM was in a crisis and the board has not moved quickly enough to demand change.

"In my opinion, this company has turned around so many times we're going in circles. And that circle is leading us right down the drain," said shareholder James M. Dollinger, of Flint.

If a general blue collar uneducated person costing the company about $140K per year can not be ridden of, then of course the company will go down the drain. It takes more skill to operate a riding lawnmower than to screw in a bolt; things won't get better until UAW people get paid reasonably.

These shareholders are like squirrels...they need to get off Rick's nuts. I can understand concern, but I cant accept people who have zero patience. GM is in the midst of a huge turnaround...everything from the new exciting vehicles, the exciting division make overs, to the small stuff like the huge mainstream notice in film and music (Transformers..those Chevy ads are EVERYWHERE..Myspace,MTV..they are hitting the youth hard with GM goodness)..The turn around is happening, the largest kinks in the hose are within the UAW, IMO...not blaming them, but saying things need to change!

P.S.
Oh yeah...and stiff Toyota with a tariff

what are you talking about? if the turnaround isn't INSTANT; if GM doesn't sell 10 billion cars next week, then it's obviously hopeless and someone must pay!!!!!

Re: GM Shareholders Grill Wagoner Over Declining Market Share

Wagoner deserves to have his nuts baked. What has he done with small cars? What has he done with Buick? Why doesnt he elevate the content of his product to keep pace with the competition? (bluetooth, rear seat armnrests, telescoping steering wheels, more comfortable seats, etc?)
All they have to do is point to the Aveo and Cobalt and say 'What is your major malfunction?" Do you even look at the competition? Do you even notice sales trends?
Why do you keep changing vehicle names, Rick? LaCrosse? Lucerne?
There is plenty to get on his case about. Plenty.

Dumbest post of the year right here. So what you are saying is I am "uneducated", hmm that's strange considering I have a 4 year degree and graduated with a 3.4 dual majored in history/business from a NY private school? Yeah I must be stupid thank you for informing me I never knew that about myself. Or my father who graduated with a 4.0 in electrical in college and 2nd in his class in high school. Yes because we work in a factory we are lower than you. Screwing in bolts? I wish, you ever take a mulitmillion dollar machine apart and rebuild it? Here's a hint because I know you haven't-it's not easy. Another thing-NOBODY makes 140K a year, not even the general manager. Get off your high horse, you sir sound like the foolish uneducated snob.

PS-the UAW did not approve the Aztek(sp?), Vibe, nor did they cancel the Cobalt MCE, nor did they ignore the rising small car market-the all knowing excs did

Re: GM Shareholders Grill Wagoner Over Declining Market Share

Interesting notes from this article:

On one hand, they have targets for getting the Volt into production, but in the next sentence, he says "we're not obsessed with any time line for getting the car into production." Which is it, Rick?

On a positive note, it's nice to see them standing up to the global warming loonies and not destroying the business over the unproven theory of man-made global climate change.

Indeed he was. This is Buickman (AKA: James Dollinger) speaking in the following quote:

I don't believe it! The article did not mention an assassination attempt on Mr. Wagoner's life, so I have a hard time believing Buickman was there.
