GM Sale Continues, Includes Saturn Vue Hybrid

GM Sale Continues, Includes Saturn Vue Hybrid
http://blogs.cars.com/

If you thought the Presidents Day sales all ended on Monday — you know, President’s Day — then you’re wrong. GM is extending 0% financing and $500 cash-back deals on certain vehicles until Feb. 28. The company is also including the 2007 Saturn Vue Green Line hybrid SUV in the sale.

'Positive response' prompts GM to extend incentive campaign

John D. Stoll / Dow Jones Newswires

DETROIT -- General Motors Corp. has extended until the end of February an incentive campaign as it works to recover from disappointing retail sales in January.

It is now including the Saturn Vue hybrid-electric vehicle in the discount program that was originally to end Tuesday.

The automaker will continue offering zero percent loans spanning as long as 60 months on vehicles and $500 cash back on certain vehicles.

The deals were initially offered under GM's annual Presidents Day sale.

They have been extended to Feb. 28 because GM has seen "a real positive response to the offers," GM spokesman John McDonald said in an interview.

McDonald said the company is now discounting its relatively new hybrid, known as the "Green Line" version, for "simplicity's sake."

He said some dealers had only hybrid versions of the Saturn Vue in stock, but were unable to give discounts on that vehicle.

GM sells relatively few hybrid vehicles in the United States but has plans to ramp up volume this year with new product offerings.

McDonald said GM's closely watched February incentive spending levels are about even with the same period in 2006. McDonald said the company is "getting the right balance" when it comes to discounting vehicles without losing too much margin in the process.

Yeah... great. It has been so dead since yesterday. Where is the positive response to the extended days?

Re: GM Sale Continues, Includes Saturn Vue Hybrid

Not a bad move re the Hybrids, at least those dealers who don't have all models in stock can still try and make a deal, and anyways, a 0% offer on a slightly more expensive model might go better than a low (1.9 or 2.9%) offer on a cheaper model.

Also, they may not make the $$ in financing but they aren't killing resale value but dropping the price of the vehicle.

Re: GM Sale Continues, Includes Saturn Vue Hybrid

I don't undertand why they need to include the Vue hybrid when weeks ago a spokesman for GM said that dealer supply was already low and that there would be a several month gap between the time in which the last of 07' Vue GLs would be sold and the time in which the new 08' Vue GL would be available.

Re: GM Sale Continues, Includes Saturn Vue Hybrid

In our area Toyota's having a deal on rates, typically 3.9% for 3 years on nearly all 2007s, except the Prius and Tundra which are at 5.9%. Deal is good to the end of Feb. Not as good as 0% but it's still reduced across the board. The 3.9% is valid on the Camry hybrid.

Yeah and with very little publicity on GM's part I might add. According to Automotive News magazine the spokesman for GM said that they would probably sell completely out of the Vue GL's by the end of this month.

Re: GM Sale Continues, Includes Saturn Vue Hybrid

I think part of the reason why the sale was so successful was the great "sale" commercials that GM was running. You know the one with the President's day thing. I bet that got some people's attention to go to their local GM dealer.

Re: GM Sale Continues, Includes Saturn Vue Hybrid

I bought my Saturn Aura on Wednesday and you could hear crickets in there. My sales associate said that they had a big weekend. Maybe word of the extension hadn't gotten out yet?

Re: GM Sale Continues, Includes Saturn Vue Hybrid

In the NE region, the 0% for 60 is only on Silverado/Sierra classics. Also extending it helps the NE because when they had the sale, we had 3-4 feet of snow on the vehicles. Now we're clean and ready to sell!

Re: GM Sale Continues, Includes Saturn Vue Hybrid

One dealer in Mpls area here (Walser) has been advertising Camry's and Corollas for $1500-$2k under sticker in the weekend paper. They've been doing that for months. I Corolla I can understand -- it's beyond dated. But the Camry? Perhaps the Camry's new styling isn't going over that well.

If I heard correctly this morning Toyota's offering cash back on all the cars now, too. I think it's $500. Nothing major, but it's across the board.

My buds who sell cars have always said February simply sucks for selling.

Like $1500 under a sticker is a steal?
