GM replaces 4 purchasing execs Robert Sherefkin Automotive News / January 9, 2006 - 6:00 am DETROIT -- General Motors purchasing chief Bo Andersson is shaking up his global purchasing staff, replacing four of his seven top commodity purchasing executives. Those seven GM executive directors oversee GM's $85 billion global parts purchasing budget. The four who were replaced remain at GM, according to sources familiar with the move. Those replaced include: Vicky Morter, global purchasing, current and future business; Rimon Nasr, global purchasing, interiors; and Rob Deni, chassis and chassis systems. The fourth person's identity could not be determined. Company spokesman Tom Hill declined to confirm the identities of the executives or why they were replaced. Last September, Andersson told suppliers that GM's purchasing operation had failed to meet its three-year cost-cutting goal. According to one supplier spokesman, suppliers, beset by higher raw-material prices and declining profits, are "pushing back on GM pricing demands." |
