Hmmm. I started to get nervous but my car isn't included (2000 Camaro with the 3.8). Looks like it only applies to the FWD applications, and only the 3.8 and not the 3.1 and 3.4 engines, which I *THINK* are almost identical save for the displacement.
    Current Cars:
    2014 Cadillac CTS Vsport Premium
    1994 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

    Past Cars:
1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1984 Chevrolet Impala, 1998 Pontiac Grand Am, 2000 Chevrolet Camaro, 2007 BMW 335i

    3.1/3.4 = 60* V6
    3.8 = 90* V6

    Right?

Oh wow. Thanks for this notice. My sister owns a 2001 Grand Prix, and I wouldn't want her to get hurt.

    Don't hate. Appreciate.

Not sure, but the report was only filled with the NHTSA on April 8th, 2009.

Ahh, it's a bigger recall. Last years was apparently only for the Superchared models:

I wonder if I can get my supercharged 2000 Bonnie covered if that last recall notice was a year ago.

What strikes me odd about this recall is when they did the ones with supercharged motors they also replaced one valve cover gasket this they are not ony putting in 2 new spark plug retainers

Now we just need GM to recall this engine for the faulty plastic upper intake manifold that melts and causes coolant loss. GM knows its a poor design on the series 2 3800s....thats why on the series 3 its aluminum.

    Right?

    Pretty much. The 3.3 / 3300 v6 introduced in 1989 is a direct decendant of the 3800 and I think is 90*.

Per Wikipedia: "Though the pre-3800 RWD V6 uses the BOP bellhousing pattern that it inherited from its aluminum V8 ancestor, an oddity of both the FWD and RWD 3800 V6 is that although it is a 90° V6, it uses the GM 60° V6 bell housing. For use in the RWD applications, the bellhousings on both the manual and automatic transmissions are altered slightly."

    Weird huh?

Tell me about it. I had to replace the intake gasket on my 94 3.1 GP, 98 3.8GP, and 2000 GTP. Lame.

I will be doing my 1999 Monte Carlo Z34's soon. I may wait till after I get this recall done to tear it all down.

Glad you found that, I was thinking the SC models had already been recalled. Seems like we wondered at the time why the non-SC models didn't get recalled?

My '94 3100 GP and my '01 3800 GP both had leaking intakes, any reason to believe 100% don't leak eventually?

Looks like I fall under this recall with my '01 GP GT.
