GM: No endorsement of Delphi's plans

GENERAL MOTORS: No endorsement of Delphi's plans
Bloomberg News
Published April 5, 2006

NEW YORK -- Last week, Delphi unveiled a restructuring plan that would eliminate 8,500 salaried jobs, close most U.S. plants and rewrite 5,472 contracts with GM.

General Motors Corp. said it doesn't endorse a request by supplier Delphi Corp. to reject employee contracts and fire 25 percent of its workforce to avoid losing $8.1 billion through 2010.

"GM does not endorse the debtor's decision to move the court at this time for authorization to reject their collective bargaining agreements and modify their retiree welfare benefit obligations," Michael Kessler, a lawyer representing the Detroit-based automaker, said in court papers.

leather seats, but no floor shifter, I don't think it's an F-150. . . . . I am going out on a limb here and saying it's a GMT-900. . . .

Not one of the first bunch of responses is related to the topic of the post. Aren't we just single minded, laser focused, impossible to distract, eye on the ball...hey, is that a new headrest retainer clip in that photo?

I can see why GM doesn't endorse it, since they could end up with major supply problems. GM doesnt want its business affected.

Not only that, but they can stay on the good side of the UAW by watching what they say in this situation. I noticed that they did not say they were against Delphi's plans, just that they did not endorse them. I'm sure that the words were chosen very carefully by GM's lawyers before filing court papers that they knew would be made public.
