GM Gives $750 Bonus Rebate To Hurricane Victims

Source: General Motors

General Motors is announcing a bonus cash incentive for customers whose vehicles were damaged as a result of Hurricane Katrina. This bonus cash is incremental to all other eligible incentives. This offer is good towards the purchase or lease of all new and unused 2005/2006 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, HUMMER H2/H3 and Pontiac-GMC passenger car and light duty truck models. The allowance is $750 and valid for vehicles delivered from September 9, 2005 through January 3, 2006.

This bonus cash offer is only available on eligible deliveries to customers that can document residency in the following states: Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi. Customers must present a copy of their insurance claim form indicating their vehicle was damaged as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

That's cool. Maybe alot of people affected will go to GM to purchase new cars. That would be real nice. We live in such a good country...I'm glad our companies help the people affected.

Great idea, mixing PR with advertising, and pulling in customers who feel you care with a tangible discount. I hope this gets press coverage before the Shiny Happy people at Toyota join in (assuming they haven't already as of this post).

How about people who had a few branches in their yard after Rita, like me?

Not much different from them giving $2,000 (IIRC) certificates to owners for a new truck if you had one of the trucks with the side-saddle fuel tanks as part of the lawsuit settlement.

Helps out the consumer some but helps the company more.

Seeing how GM already has donated millions out of their own pockets, plus all of their compassionate American employees who donated money to help out their fellow Americans, I think people will understand.

Its a little thing called patriotic pride in a time of need, you wouldn't understand.

Re: GM Gives $750 Bonus Rebate To Hurricane Victims

These people are going to repurchase vehicles anyway, everyone wins: GM gets some much needed good PR, and the hurricane victims will have $750 more to spend on things that matter like a home, food and clothes. Look at it this way, they could have done nothing and sold some vehicles anyway...

yeah, as usual they ALMOST do something right. what about all the Beaumont, Port Arthur, Galveston, etc. residents? Texas' gulf coast was affected by a hurricane too.

GM has done this before after other major hurricanes. Some of the other car companies also have done exactly the same thing before too

As a Canadian i have donated to the Hurricane fund , and i know the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) started a gate drive at the plants ,plus GM Canada made a monetary donation. My point is if we can help in any way , we will do it ! Its the right thing to do. It seems no matter what GM does there is always someone ready to kick them between the legs.

So you believe GM should have seen that a hurricane was coming in 15 days and added those areas to the program?

Look at the date, September 9th. That is old news. The current programs most certainly cover the Rita effected areas.

Well GM can ease the burden on families whose cars were damaged by the floor, or they can walk, or walk over to Toyota and give the Japanese economy American profits..
Your choice

Re: GM Gives $750 Bonus Rebate To Hurricane Victims

guys if GM is donating the 750 bucks for the victims to get food and shelter then im sorry good for them, but if they are giving them $750 bonus rebate for the victims to buy their cars its not only a kick in the victim's crotch (these guys have lost everything and have no way of buying a new car) but also a display in selfishness. they want these victims to come on over to GM for their next car and if this is the case i dont find it justified at all, seeing as how it helps GM more then the victims, and GMs financial state is currently FAR better then the hurricane victims'.

Re: GM Gives $750 Bonus Rebate To Hurricane Victims

hmmm....how about you read my response to your original post. Your just blabbering the same nonsense you did in your first post. I don't think GM is going to be making back the millions, from the vehicles sold because of these rebates, that they have donated to the hurricane victimes. Not even to mention the millions they have donated to natural disater relief funds that don't even affect Americans whatsoever.

The bottom line, even if GM's intentions are to make a profit (which is every buisnesses inentions) through these rebates, they are still providing relief to the victims in the form of their life returning back to normal a little bit easier.
