Re: GM Extends The 72 Hour Sale Through July 7th
I would be interested if there was something in a 2 door car with at least 250hp available anywhere in the GM line up.(I dont think the Cobalt SS falls in the 0/72 cat).

They're just trying to get some cash flowing in. It's standard business procedure. Practically give away what isn't selling and use the cash to build more of what is. If something isn't selling well, you aren't worried about replenishing your stock of it until it picks up again. Sure it isn't as much cash as it would be if it were msrp but you also have to realize a lot of product wouldn't move at very quickly at msrp.
Heck, I'm even considering buying a new Sierra at these prices. ![]()

Re: GM Extends The 72 Hour Sale Through July 7th
72 months at 0% financing is probably an equivalent financial hit for GM as the Employee Discount thing. I wonder if there's a way to calculate it for sure. How much money would an average buyer save (IE, how much would GM lose?) with the 72-hour thing vs. what they saved with the Employee Discount thing?

Re: GM Extends The 72 Hour Sale Through July 7th
It is about the equivalent of taking about $5k off of the price of the car. I like these sales, as it means that I drive on thier buck, instead of mine.

Re: GM Extends The 72 Hour Sale Through July 7th
the mrs was in the car business for 15 years and the question most asked is,"how much a month". that is what seals the deal for most buyers

I spoke with a dealer on Monday about a price quote for a new CTS. I am smart enough to figure out what the payment will be - I just need to know what the selling price and interest rate will be. But instead, he gave me payment amounts. When I asked how much off MSRP he was giving me, he was like, "oh, about a thousand or so." Thanks, that's really helpful, and really helps comparisons. ![]() The thing that really bugs me (and BTW my dad is in the used car business) is when dealers advertise things like "new Durango, just $16,995" but then in the very fine print, it's $4,500 cash or trade, not to mention the military, new graduate, owner loyalty, etc., etc. discounts stacked. But sorry, if I'm giving you $4,500, you're not really giving me the vehicle for $16,995. |
