Correct. Such as "F-150: The number one selling truck in America'" While this is technically true, it is simply because GM can not lump Sierra AND Silverado sales together.
When was the last time you saw a Pepsi ad say, "We taste as good as Coke but, we are just a little bit DIFFERENT of a taste"
Equal product comparrisons are not what marketing is about....that is what independent reviews are for (except for C&D...lol)

Did anyone else notice the new Chevy logo? Or have I somehow just missed the silver stroke along the ridge for the last 5 years?

If you read the ad they are not comparing apples to oranges.

Thanks.
None of that is relevant to what they are comparing. Sure the Malibu looks better but it would look better if it were an LT model. I've seen numerous CHevy print ads with the LT model. Seesm like you are grasping at straws here. The models shown have nothing to do with the metrics GM is comparing in the ad. The base LT Malibu has the same advantages.

Sounds nice, but there are legal and other issues concerning this. Also, the marketing buzz will wear off over time...

I'm wondering... Is the Top level Camry available with the 4 cylinder motor? If not then Chevy can say that its class leading mileage can had with a little "bling" instead of forcing you to buy a base model to get good Mileage.

...so Joe Consumer sees this ad, and heads over To Edmunds to check prices...Camry LE, 21,900. Malibu LTZ, 26605. "Well, shoot, for almost 5k more, it SHOULD have more to offer!" Apples and oranges, to Joe Consumer.

Now, Malibu LT base is 22715, an $800 difference. Apples to apples.

I realize this is marketing and it happens all the time. However, GM is fighting an uphill battle when it comes to public perception right now. I don't think its wise to have Joe Consumer feel like he is being duped.

But that it is the problem...Others will copy, thus reducing the overall impact. People have short attention spans nowadays, no matter how good something is...I think it will work for a while, but someone, probably Hyundai, is bound to copy. They have to look at ALL marketing avenues...Good thing Lutz is in control of this, because I think they are finally starting to get it. I am sure he has more interesting things planned.

Just keep taking it to the inferior competition. Call them out!

Wow. So basically, some other guys don't have any credibility, why should we? Long term consequences, whats that? Maybe Chevy can hire Joe Isuzu.

Imagine a Toyota ad showing an XLE next to an LS.

Exactly, Toyota commercials claim that their cars have the best fuel economy. Then you have a Chevy commercial come on right after and they say specifically that their cars are more fuel efficient than comparable Toyotas.

Occurs all the time. Why would Ford use an upper trim level and then bring in competitors of lower trims. It's not a crime. It's called marketing. Ford is setting the best light of which to market and sell it's product. Easy finds are pickup truck commercials that pull in competitor trucks. You'll never see Ford pull in a Tundra SR5, Ram Lamamie, or Silverado LTZ into any ad. It's always a dull base or lesser model trim. There's nothing wrong with promoting a product over the competition and no it doesn't have to be and isn't fair. It isn't meant to be.

Just the facts. The real world. This is not an uncommon occurrence. Competition is not fair, nor is it meant to be. Sales has an initiative to win, not to become parity with competition.
