Re: GM Dominates "Lightning Lap" 2008

GM is doing good no way u can deny it.

U will never see a corolla doing what the cobalt did but you will see the corolla being a ricer

Maybe because two versions of the same model aren't allowed? Although it would have been nice to have the ZR1 spank the competition in that class as well.

The Cobalt SS and Z-51 Vette are the best vehicle for the money available to the car buying public. Period.

They tested 07 models last year, so the Z51 got a bigger engine in the meantime.

Re: GM Dominates "Lightning Lap" 2008

Good times. I wish I could get the Cobalt SS now, but I'll wait to see what GM will do to the Cruze.

BTW, does anyone know if GM will do a Cruze SS??

Re: GM Dominates "Lightning Lap" 2008

Why no Mazdaspeed 3? The Caliber wasn't competition for the old SS, why would they even bother testing it against the new one? And the Volvo? Coulda picked some better competition for that class...

Some damn fine numbers for all 3 cars though. Cool article.

Re: GM Dominates "Lightning Lap" 2008

Im disapointed in the Nissan, I was expecting a far faster time especially when you think on it's 7:29 Nur time. A tire change in the ZO6 would have yielded that same time.

I would guess that the Mosler and ACR dominated.

You see, this is the kind of misconception that happens when the general public tries to 'examine' cars without knowing all the facts! It's a scientific fact that BLACK in the fastest color!

The SS Supercharged smoked the VW GTI and Civic Si in a previous Lightning Lap, so they weren't going to bring those two back against the quicker-still turbo. And I think they may have tested the MS3 last time, though it would have been nice to see them go head to head.

EDIT: The SS/TC beat the MS3's time by around 3 secs. Pretty impressive.
