impala will remain in production on W platform. That car will likely be fleet only so increased Malibu sales will come from consumers who now longer have the option of a $25k Impala at the dealer. Many old school people would take the dated Impala V6 over a similarly priced Malibu. And realistically the Malibu is probably pricier than the Impala. GM wouldnt be selling 11k Impalas a month if it were only fleet sales.

I can walk into any dealer right now and get an Impala LT for right under $23k. That is CHEAP. Over $4k in incentives in my zip.

The real test for ATS sales will come in 18 months or so, when the Gen 3 CTS is online.

You might be able to argue that public awareness of inventory levels lags reality, but the truth is that there are a lot of ATS models on dealer lots in some regions if not everywhere. One Cadillac dealer in Nashville, and there are multiple dealers just within that general area, has approximately forty ATS sedans on his lot alone. Checked a dealer on the other side of the state and they have 23 in a smaller city, and I seriously doubt they all showed up yesterday. Awareness may be taking time to build, but I don't think we can say inventory is too, not with a straight face.

Well, it is for my 2 dealers. We can't get that much inventory and the little we get, they're sold in a heartbeat.

I find it sad that some people wish for GM to fail and can't comprehend any good news. A plausible explanation for this kind of behavior is that you have a miserable life so you wish the same to others. Cory Pham, Autoblog Poster

GM must return its divisions to being interdependent entities within the corporation. Decentralize and free the different divisions talents to foster brand differentiation and customer loyalty.

    last 3 months for ATS- 1200, 2100, 2900.

By spring I would think it could crack the 4k mark.

    More volume with FWD, clearly.
And they could have save a lot of money by using an existing FWD chassis.

    Like Lincoln.
XTS has been out for over 9 months. ATS has been out for 3 (maybe).

Why should GM ignore that market?
Then again ignoring core markets worked wonders for Olds right?

I am disappointed in the Malibu sales as well- especially when stale cars like the Camry continue to sell well. However, last December sales of the Malibu were very strong- up 12 percent from 2010, and they are still up over November 2012.
