Those should do to XFE's image what the HHR and others have done to SS. Nice move.

1 MPG?

This option shouldn't cost anymore than $750...tonneau cover is worth something.

Re: GM announces 4 new xfe models

BTW - why did the '09 Silverado's MPG rating go down? The '08 Silverado with a 4spd was rated at 15/20 and now it's rated at 14/20. It also gets the same rating with a 6spd.

Last year you would've thought adding the 6spd and a XFE package would result in something like 17/23....not 15/21.

Hell, make it standard. And throw BAS+ in there while you're at it, what the hell ever happened to that project anyways?

Re: GM announces 4 new xfe models

Well, there goes the already young XFE name. Didn't take long for them to screw this one up too.

I am so sick and tired of this ****, GM. I try so hard to support everything that is done in Detroit, but seriously...do you people think before you do this? Seriously? Remember what happened when you abused the SS badge? That didn't work out so nicely.

You had a nice edge with the Cobalt XFE. A very nice edge. Substantailly higher gas mileage. One or two MPG is hardly substantial and not even worthy of a hybrid badge. Not at all.

Way to kill another good thing you guys had going. Christ, I seriously wonder whether you guys want to go bankrupt sometimes.

Exec 1: Hey, that XFE option sold out quick. Lets put it on some other models!
Smart Guy: Like the Malibu, G6, Aura and Impala?
Exec 2: No silly, how about the SUV's that aren't moving because they aren't fuel efficient; even though this won't do anything to change that!
Exec 1: Brilliant Exec 2. Let's get some bonuses
Smart Guy: (grumbles string of expletives and profanities)

...I'm going to say this has potential, but CARS like the G6, and Aura could have used this more than the trucks...

Re: GM announces 4 new xfe models

Anybody know what the new Ram and F150 will be rated at?

Maybe this was done for marketing reasons - i.e. not losing the title of "most fuel efficient trucks."

Re: GM announces 4 new xfe models

GM's trucks and SUVs were already just barely the most fuel efficient on the market by 1mpg here or there. This should widen the gap to 2, and they obviously just used the wheels/tires and other equipment off the 2-modes to amortize costs. Not a bad idea, but it's doubtful anyone will care that they have XFE badges. It would help if this were standard and the lower rear end ratio, bigger tires, etc. were an option package. Just don't spend any money on these things GM. Keep your engines class leading and save the rest for the big show: cars.

Re: GM announces 4 new xfe models

Its all part of their, "we're going to look like we care about cars, with the XFE thing on the Cobalt.............. but we really just want you to buy our big trucks and SUV's," old thinking.

They just can't get out of TRUCK MODE. Geez they frustrate me. Do they think the buying public is completely stupid, and can't see what they are trying to do??? Then they sit in their big glass house, and wonder why so many people hate GM.

God this is annoying.

Re: GM announces 4 new xfe models

increasing fuel economy of their trucks and SUV for 1MPG is not going to help..........

why cant GM see this? are they really that dumb and want to continue to sell products that the American public no longer wants as a whole.

Re: GM announces 4 new xfe models

GM had got the parts for XFE from the Hybrid. Didn't cost a lot to make that new trim. And 1 mpg is still 7 % better city and 5 % hwy. Not that bad.
